It may be my size, positioning of the gun, or something but it works pretty well for me. I think it has less to do with the padded backside and more with the long torso / hip thing giving more room for the slide to lay in.

The more cant you put on the gun, the less gun there is inside the pants, or less distance measuring from the top of the waistband straight down vertically to the front sight. On some shorter guns, the muzzle would be at or almost under the beltline with that cant, and that simply wouldn't work without it tumbling over the waistband with movement.
When I tried it (and I'm NOT a craftsman), I couldn't get it to work at all with sewn loops. I went to Comp Tac clips on some fairly big side wings. That way, the wing does some of the holding it in and the clip attaches farther down inside the waistband which serves to pull the gun down inside the belt line.

I have one that works with a S&W M&P 40C for example. It's not pretty but it works. Of course, that's only version one of this particular holster for this gun. I think I'll have to try 3 or 4 more attempts before I settle on something usable.

Yes, some of them did. My Stead-Fast in particular.

Thanks, Jack!
Yeah, I'm a bit anal when it comes to my exotics and my suppliers proabably hate me for it. They all know by now that if they send me a hide that's just wrinkled and not deeply textured they'll be getting it back.
