Custom Shorts..

So I recently got the new 5.11 catalog. And thought to myself, "wow, what a great company, with great products, but man I am way to cheap to pay $100 for some pants that I am going to tear up, and that will give me away to any BG that knows a lil bit about concealment!" So I took my super cool kaki shorts with cargo pockets to the alteration place today in fact. And say hey look. I want to have 2 mags in my left cargo pocket along with my fav light. the lady at first was sort of blown back, but I had already talked to a lady earlier in the week. They both were like that is a good idea for concealed carry or for my IDPA matches. and at only $10 for each pair. I was really happy. Now I am thinking about other options as far as other clothing I can have modified to conceal other things like maybe another mag in a special built in pocket inside the waist of my weak side. or something.

Anyone else do this, or am I nuts and should have spent the money? I think not to bad, plus it got me and the ladies talking about her husband being a Sheriff here in town and wanting to go to some shooting events, so I got a chance to write down some info for her to pass along to him.

I just felt as though I was not going to pay $100 for some paints or $50 for some shorts when my $5-$9 on clearance last year Wally World Specials would do just fine.

Can you hook up P95Carry with your tailor?

If I wore shorts, I'd probably do the same.

If it works. Thing is ,the 5.11 pants may be built a bit tougher than the $5-10 pants.

I love my 5.11 Academy Shorts! (9" inseam) Very well made.

I bought them brand new with tags on e-Bay and only paid $14.99 a pair. Lots of other 5.11 stuff too all priced 30%-50% less than retail.

Those are my everyday work shorts, not the academy but the tactical ones....I love these shorts and they are tuff. I don't see anybody really wearing these out. If anything, they will fade...I wear the Navy Blue ones and they are starting to fade just a tad.

As long as the shorts and pockets seem durable enough to trust with your life, I say more power to you. I've read about people tailoring reinforced pockets for pocket carry, and having special inner pockets made for knives they do not want banging around keys, etc.

Id honestly try them...but wont expose the world to my legs. What good is carrying a gun if you are all blind from the reflection.

Shoot well and god bless

I see where you are coming from Rolex Dr.....however I have many pairs fo these shorts and they are fine, the normal $20-$30 short you find there. I just happen to get these particular ones on clerance last year.

As far as trusting my life to them. well I am thinking the built in mag holder and light holder is enough. Maybe down the road have a custom pocket puilt in for a small of back mag holster or maybe a knife pocket built in somewhere.

I guess only time will tell. I pick them all up this coming thursday!
