Which clips for Comp-Tac CTAC?
I've decided on getting a Comp-Tac CTAC holster for my Glock 26. My question is: Which type of belt clips would you recommend: Standard, C-clip or J-clip? (I don't think that I would be interested in the velcro style).
Your input would be appreciated. |

I have one with the standard clips for a Bersa 380. They are very secure, easy on and off. I've never tried any of the "C" or "J" clips - I think the "C" clips may work fine if the gun is light enough. I don't like the idea of the "J" clips- resting the weight of the gun/holster on the pants instead of the belt just is asking for it to sag and print; plus, if the little "j" hook slips under the belt during the day, and then you need to do a fast draw, the holster might come out with the gun.

I have c-clips for a XD-45c. I warmed up the plastic and bent the top of the c-clip over slightly, so now I put the belt into the bottom of the clip and snap the top over. Now no worries of the clips coming off, but the advantage of less showing and quick on and off.

Don't own one but I have read that standards are the best way to go.

For me, the standards were somewhat unreliable. I wear a Wilderness 5 stitch, and the clips liked to pop over the belt.
The C clips are much more secure, IMHO. Matt

Let us know how you like them. When I called they steered me away from the C clips so I went with standard. I wear leather belts and sometimes cloth/woven and they work great.

I have found that if I run a standard clip in the rear in a C clip in the front it works best for me. If you are going to run all standard clips you might want to go ahead and order a spare set because they are easy to snag on things and break.

I like the standard clips too! Very easy on, and so far no problems with them comming off during a draw or anything. The CTAC is a great choice in my opinion!

Depends
I bought into the C-clip pitch, concealble, secure. Until I tried them. I tried forming the tops into a lil curve, tried all positions etc.
For me and my big bottom the c-clips don't work. Maybe if I had a 32" waist-yes, but I don't. My 3:30 carry has the front clip at an odd angle and that clip keeps popping off. If I sit in the car for awhile, the second clip pops. Buy a set of regular clips just in case. I'm not an expert-but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.
