Car Carry in Chevy Tahoe

I found a slick place to stow my pistol in my car when not carrying it. I noticed that the outside dimensions of the center console in my Chevy Tahoe were bigger that the various compartments required. This meant that there was likely empty space available inside the console. After taking it apart and checking it over, I discovered that the cup holder section at the front of the console (in front of the large compartment with the lid) just pops out with a little effort. Below the cup holder is a nice space that is perfect for stowing my pistol. It is easy to reach while driving and not likely to be discovered by anyone breaking into the vehicle, or by kids. Thought I would pass along the info.

I did say "not likely", not "won't".

I have been driving this vehicle for 3 years and never knew the cup holder was removable. It has never come loose on its own, and doesn't look removable. Nothing is for sure, but its better hidden and more accessible than any other spot I have found.

I've got a 99. I'll have to give it a look for when I must leave it in the car.

Your 99 has the spot under the cupholder, as well as a slide out drawer under the rear cupholders, down near the floor. It's holds a J frame S&W or a Kahr P40 and a spare mag quite nicely.

Try the space with the jack in the rear (driver's side) if you have to squirrel it away. Still, kid's and thieves will get into anything you figure they won't.
