Newbie IWB Question

I'm considering my first IWB holster purchase, a Comp-Tac CTAC. My question is this, how do you put your IWB holster on? For example, holster on to pants, gun in holster, then pull pants on or pants on, put gun in holster then holstered gun on pants.

Dumb question maybe, but I'd really appreciate your input.

Thanks, Michael

Pants on, belt on, holster on, gun in. IMO holsters are for wearing not storing. I never leave a gun in a holster, plus sweaty holsters are not good for some guns finish. I also try to limit manipulation of a holster with a gun in it.

S 45 summed it up pretty well. But, there is no hard and fast rule. I've been known to put on my pants and belt, but yet not fasten them, as I work the holster into the position I want, then secure everything and insert the gun.

Pants on...belt in place...ready to go out the door! My Fist IWB (with a clip simply goes right into place. Easy on...easy off!

It depends on the holster. One with clips can pretty much go on after your pants on up, zipped, & belt's on & maybe even cinched. If not, then just before your cinch your belt. The gun should be the last thing put in, except maybe for cinching/loosening your belt, depending on your needs.

It may "seem' like a dumb question, but I'm sure many of us have dropped our guns (Or almost have), while trying to figure it out.

Pants Size

You may have to wear a larger size! If your pants are a little tight IWB can be very uncomfortable!

Pants, Holster, Tighten Belt, Gun. IWB with the weight of a gun not supported by a belt tends to flop upside down possibly causing gun to drop to the floor. (had this happen to my g23 in the men's room.as I was dropping trow). It was less than a one inch fall but it still takes the wind out dropping a loaded gun but first on a hard tile floor.

You should take a look at the newer Comp-Tac MTAC. Like the CTAC but with leather backing. Many are finding it more comfortable than the all kydex CTAC. Can also switch out the kydex body to accomodate different guns.
