My wife's EDC is a G 26. She and I have read every thread ever posted on the whole internet (
) on Shoulder Rigs.....She has narrowed her selection down after looking at several and reading a lot, so we've decided to solicit the experienced folks here on final observations and comments on the possibilities. I know squat other than what I've read......For background, she never wears a belt, or at least in the 32 years or so we've been together. Usually slacks, jeans, or cargo shorts, a short sleeved tank-top type blouse, with a light weight to medium weight unbuttoned "over" blouse (over the other top). She likes the idea of a shoulder rig due to her typical mode of dress. She does not want tie-down snaps, clips, or buckles on the rig (to connect it to her waistline). She has really focused on and is ready to order from Sam Andrews. A Monarch Rig with a vertical mount springbreak for the Glock, and a double mag carrier on the opposite side. She likes this design for several reasons including the backstrap, and lack of tie-down clips. Here: http://www.andrewsleather.com/ So...Those of you with experience with Shoulder Rigs - what do you think? Has she thought of the proper considerations and the utility of same? Ladies - any thoughts? What do ya'll think of the Monarch, and Sam Andrews? Thanks in advance for the thoughts and comments!

Same problem I had with my wife. She would not carry her S&W 637, except in her purse...only once in a while. I purchased several holsters for her, but she did not like them, nor did she like using a belt.
Then I found this (fanny pack...sort of...) very thin leather pouch in a leather shop. It was very thin and was a perfect fit for either the KelTec .32 or .380. She liked the little .32 and the leather pouch. Well now she takes the leather pouch and KelTec .32 with her almost always...if she is with me, she sometimes keeps her weapon at home...we're working on that (I want to have back up for each other.) She has found this flat leather pouch so comfortable, that she is now hardly ever without a weapon. Not the weapon I would choose, but it is certainly a step in the right direction...I am very happy with her new choices...only took 36 years...we're making progress. ![]() ![]() Good luck with your spouse...

She can read the whole article I wrote up on Shoulder holsters for women.
It pretty much says everything I, as a woman, think about shoulder holsters. The article is written in three sections. The first is an introduction to the shoulder holster. The second is the pros and cons of using a shoulder holster for carry. The third is how I've found it to work for women. If she/you want/s, you can skip the first two sections and read right onto the third. It looks like a good shoulder rig though, I think I might have to add it to the list of shoulder holsters I'd recommend.

Sam makes a fine product, buy with confidence. As to using a shoulder holster, I have no experience in that dept.

I couldn't be happier with my Monarch rig from Sam. Great quality and super comfortable. I doubt you could find anything better even if you have more $ and a long time to wait. Just remember shoulder holsters should be worn tight and pretty close to the armpit.
I took the backstrap off of my unit bc it didn't feel neccessary and made drawing much easier. Once you get it make sure to work on the draw, it's a bit more complicated than a normal waist area holster. I don't know about the vertical spring break but I have the normal horizontal rig for the glock 26 and it's very good. I'm 6'2" 165lbs with broad shoulders and I can hide the G26 and 45rds of 9mm very well. |

I bought the IWB and a mag/flashlight holder from him a few months ago. Outstanding quality at a reasonable price and realistic time line on when you will receive it.
I was looking at his shoulder holster also. I have the Galco Miami Classic, and some days it's comfortable, and some days it's not. For me I only use the shoulder holster in the winter. I tried under a shirt, and it's just to uncomfortable for me. I don't know if it will work for you, but I am sure you will be more than happy with the qaulity. My IWB (McDaniel II) is the most comfortable holster I have tried to date.
