Is there any down side to putting a smaller gun in the holster?

Is there any reason to get a separate IWB holster for an OACP 1911, or would I be OK using a Commander holster. I know there's only 3/4" difference in slide length. I just want to make sure that long-term use won't hurt the holster. I tend to alternate between the two sizes, depending on the situation and I'm trying to minimize the size of the holster remuda.

Thanks in advance,
Herk

Not only is there no problem but it might be more comfortable.
Smaller guns with IWB holsters sometimes feel as if the holster isn't anchored properly. Using a holster for a larger barreled version of the same firearm may actually work better.

I posed this question to John @ 5Shot. He said the only thing MIGHT be the unsupported end of the holster might collapse over time, but I have not seen that happen as of yet.

3/4" of decent leather ain't gonna collapse. IF it does, you needed to trash it, anyway.

230 grain .45ACP Federal HST on a Quarter :-) I think one of the members here tested them, and I couldn't pass up that pic.

Like I said my rig for my 4 in Kimber has shown no ill effects from carrying my Para CCO numerous times.
