Hey guys, I just joined up today because yesturday I finally got my CCL.
I have a S&W M&P .40 Compact that I am going to be carrying and was looking for a good paddle and IWB holster for this gun. You guys have any suggestions? Also, I would like to stay with leather. THANKS |

Galco is a good middle-of-the-road production holster supplier. I've found their leather models to be excellent, servicable holsters. Of course, there's a bunch of custom holster makers...but sometimes the wait is just too long. One strong piece of advice? Buy a good dedicated Gun Belt as well. You'll be happy you did!
Welcome Aboard!

Many folks here lately are talking about Don Hume holsters:
http://www.donhume.com/ I have used Bianchi holsters as well with satisfactory results, but few here seem to speak of them: http://www.bianchi-intl.com/ These look good: http://www.bulmangunleather.com/ I've also used one of this company's stock holsters and liked it: http://www.highnoonholsters.com/index.html ...and there are many other fine holster makers out there! Good luck with whatever you decide, and welcome from Middle Tennessee! P.S. Be sure to check out the holster links at the Forum Help & Extras button, above, if you have not yet done so! |

Ya I will for sure get a gun belt too whenever I get a holster. I doubt any 20 dollar Wal-Mart Special will support the added weight of a gun.
I really like the IWB design and would like something that could easily be taken on an off without taking the belt off. Thanks for the welcomes! |

Blade-tech....if you are looking for an IWB that won't close on you and can one-hand reholster. I've had one for about 9 years--I like it, but YMMV

Hi DopdBrd, I have the same gun and a holster suggestion for you. I would recommend that you take a look over at K&D Holsters (http://kdholsters.com/ ). Kevin has made 2 holsters for me and he does an excellent job. He is an artist who uses leather and it really shows in his leathercraft! There is a waiting period involved, but what you get at the end is a great holster for a fair price. I will post some pictures of my Cochise Defender. It is very easy on and off and completely adjustable for height and cant. I wear this gun/ holster combo almost everyday and I love it!

Yes, K&D makes nice one, Easy on and off with the clips. You may also want to take a look at the Mtac by Comp Tac, it is a hybrid with leather back and kydex front, I found it to be the most comfortable holster I've tried. and You'll get in less than a week. UBG holsters are also very nice and has a decent turnaround time. I think you'll find the clip or belt loop with snaps designs ride tighter to the body much better than a paddle design in most cases. At least that has been my experience. The M Tac goes on and off in a Flash !

Well guys it looks like we have a winner. That KD holster is exactly what I am looking for and it is a lot cheaper than the others ones I found.
That is the exact design I wanted but all the other ones were around 100 dollars a piece!! Thanks guys! |

ront, that is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship! I really like how it covers the entire backside of the gun. I can't recall seeing many other holsters that do that.
I want one! And it's almost my birthday...
