Jackass Holsters?
Where did the term come from? Was it a model/manufacturer name, or was it named for the owners of such holsters?

I actually think Galco was called the Orignal Jackass Leather Company until, they changed the name and moved from Chicago to AZ. I could be wrong...but I think I read that somewhere.

Derrin 33 is correct, Galco started out as Jackass in Chicago way back when, then relocated to Phoenix under the Galco name.

I always liked the first name better than Galco International.

I have an original Jackass shoulder holster for a Colt Det Special. Best design out there . . . well balanced.
I don't use it (it's in a box of holsters, you know how that goes), but back in the day when I bought it, it was the only shoulder holster that I could wear without the straps digging into me. I also had a Bianchi Secret Agent which was horrid. |
