Review of prototype holster from K&D! (Long)

Alright, you asked for it!

I received this under the circumstances described in this thread

Hey ElCruisr

and this thing is really a departure from any other holster I've tried. It can be used IWB, OWB, strong side, cross draw, car carry, bicycle carry, tricycle carry, motorcycle carry and small of back!

First off we have a very exotic covering pictured here.

Despite my begging for something like duckbilled platypus I did get an exotic with the hair on! I think he said it was something like Roadkillimus Deeri or something like that. I'm told that the orientation of the hairs pointing UP is critical during IWB carry to help lock the holster in place while overcoming the incredible retention inherent in the holster.

Now about this retention. To overcome the problems with sweating like a proverbial pig in Florida summers and soaking a leather holster it is lined with a strange type of hide I've never seen before.

I think Kevin said it was from a critter called a neoprene. Beats me but it sure reminds me of the wetsuit I wear while diving and brother, does it retain a pistol! Combined with the two adjustable tensioning screws the ability of this thing to hold a firearm from accidentally falling loose is best described as glue like, almost epoxy like. There won't be any complaints about retention here and I'm told I won't be able to sweat through it to my pistol.

Now on to one of the most innovative features I've seen yet. It has been described as the Multi Use Adaptable Attachment System hereafter referred to as the MUAAS. This thing is ingenious! My hats off to K&D for what may be one of the holster breakthroughs of this decade, maybe the century! With it I've been able to carry my SA Micro IWB, OWB, modified semi-pocket, and cross draw. I also find it is adaptable to car carry by hanging my holstered weapon on the shift lever, turning signal arm, rear view mirror arm and some other ideas are bound to come along. Heck, I'm even thinking of mounting an eyebolt in the dash and hanging it upside down! Those of you who are bike riders should find any number of handy places to attach the MUAAS. Trust me, it ain't falling out......
Here's a look!

While carrying IWB like this.

The MUAAS can be attached to bikini underwear or a thong. and then cinched in with a proper gun belt. Since I am an old middle aged coger I leave off with the MUAAS and the funny underwear and just let those cleverly oriented hairs grab my Fruit Of The Looms and lock it in like Velcro.

Another style of carry many like is cross draw.

Notice the carefully engineered grip angle ready for me to go for that full fighting grip.

Now for those of you who prefer pocket carry you have a new and slightly modified method. You attach the MUAAS to your belt loop above the pocket and put the end of the holster down in your pocket like this.

I believe this would be considered that preferred high ride so many people talk about.

And then there is good old Hollywood style small of back carry.

Notice again that the clever orientation of the MUAAS keeps that grip ready for an easy grab. Amazing isn't it!

Also notice that no one will be claiming this trigger isn't covered.

So, there you have it. I hope it was worth the wait. My understanding is that along with all the careful thought, planning, engineering and material selection a great priority was given to speed of manufacture to satisfy an ever growing pack of customers desperate for quick delivery of their orders. Sort of like me! It should certainly fill the bill.

Overall I am very happy, if not overwhelmed, by it's retention abilities. Who needs a Serpa with this little beauty! I am also impressed with the incredible number of carry options this design allows from a single holster and I'm still discovering more. Like maybe hooking it to the shoulder strap on a wife beater or even suspenders! I bet you could even hook it to the straps on a sandal (but only if wearing white socks) for a sort of modified ankle carry.

It's really needed no break in as it had all it's working properties optimized with a few screw adjustments right out of the box.

I'll leave any further comments about design and construction (not to mention lead times) to that master holster maker Kevin of K&D!

Eric - thx a lot for the detailed and pic healthy review. Your efforts are appreciated.

All I can say is - not everyone carries in a (hairy) critter!!

Nice work Kevin

Man, I REALLY didn't need that image burned into my brain ... excuse me while I go dig it out with an ice cream scoop. There ought'ta be a law.
