Tommy's Fanny Pack?
Anyone use the Tommy's Pack? Your thoughts or opinions? Does your gun fit lose in the pack or how is it contained? Thought about getting one as another option to use for conceal carry, can never have enough!

I like the Safepacker too. I purchased one for a GLOCK 19 and 30. I selected the size they suggested on their web site, but ended up exchanging it for the next largest size (commander), which I feel is a better fit. The downside to these is that there’s virtually no storage for anything else except an additional magazine.
Maxpedition products are also very good. I started with a FATBOY VERSIPACK. It has plenty of room for all your stuff, but the handgun compartment was tight. When I grabbed the handgun grip it was difficult to easily remove my hand (small to average size) from the pocket. This is because the zipper only traverses the top of the pocket, which only allows for so much room. I’ve read that the JUMBO™ VERSIPACK has a larger pocket and it’s easier to access a handgun. The downside to me is that the bag is too large (larger than the FATBOY) and cumbersome for my needs. I don’t require all of that storage space. My alternative was to purchase their NEATFREAK™ ORGANIZER. It smaller than their VERSIPACK’s, and just the right size for me. It does not have a separate handgun compartment, but a handgun (GLOCK 19 or 30, Springfield EMP, Bersa 380/CC, Sig P239 9mm, CZ 75 D PCR, CZ RAMI 9mm) can be stored in a nylon pocket (closest to your body), or mounted on the Velcro divider using their UNIVERSAL CCW HOLSTER ($10). Access is easy since the zipper traverses the top and sides of the bag. The bag could be a real winner for CCW with a little redesign, but that’s not what they’re primarily designed for. For me, it’s a reasonable balance between a compact functional bag and concealed carry. But, I have thought about finding a seamstress and reconstructing it. I have a Tommy's and I like it. Did the job for me when I needed to use it.
My gun was not loose at all, and yet it was a quick draw. |

I have a Tommy's and had a problem with the zippers. The vertical zipper on the quick release system would slowly walk its way down after a few miles of hiking. It went down about 2-3 inches over a couple hours. The firearm was still secure, but could be seen if somebody glanced. The CS was great and sent me a replacement right away even before I sent the original back. Unfortunately, the same thing happened with the replacement. I emailed them and recommended they use YKK zippers, but they didn't get back to me.
