I wear a VMII with every pistol I have, but it is just far enough around my hip that I would be able to draw (awkwardly) with my left hand if I needed to. I can't envision any situation when I would need to do that.

The only time I had a jacket ride up was when I borrowed my dad's joe rocket textile during the summer. I had a county mountie behind me for several miles before I got home and my brother told me the jacket had uncovered the entire pistol.
This all goes away if you're riding a cruiser; my posts on this one have ONLY applied to my sport/muscle bike and my style of riding. I wear Meshtex in the summer and the waistband is abbreviated. I tend to tuck into the bike, especially on the highway. If your bike or riding style is different from mine, and especially M2's, you'll probably be fine with a IWB/OWB.

Key point about that tie down you mentioned, Jug...another reason I carry shoulder is that I wear a Firstgear Scout IV jacket and Escape pants that together are SEAMLESS when zipped in. I can't really get at my waistband or a zipper in gloves. I wonder how hard it would be for you to work the release on the backbelt tether and actually get at that thing if you needed to? I actually could carry in the outside velcro pockets of the breast on this jacket (they are FANTASTICALLY large and accessable with a flick of the wrist), but even holstered it is fairly easy to get to unless I'm fully locked in and zipped up...something I rarely do unless it is SUPERDUPER-HOLYSMOKES, WE'RE-RIDING-IN-NORTH DAKOTA cold.

I decided it was time to update the avatar, and what better to do it with?

I carry in the appendix position and don't have accessability problems.
The only issue is that you have to let off the throttle

Ditto, Once decades ago in 110º weather I was going to take my leathers off at the next stop. I was cooking. My next stop turned out to be on the freeway sliding at 70+mph. If I had gotten my leathers off I'd have been hamburger. In near forty years of riding I can count on my fingers the times I have ridden without full leathers. I also always wear a helmet every where the law requires it Found a new leather that has water tight front pockets with Velcro closures that are made for concealed carry. Will find & post a link of it if anyone is interested. May get it, mine is over thirty years old. For now I have cruise control and a jack ass rig that I wear but as others have said if you ride "always" plan an escape and ride out of the conflict. Even a cruiser can elude a Porsche if you know how to ride. The best of us would have a hard time hitting a moving weaving accelerating bike. Twice I have had guns pulled on me by cagers both times brakes put them far in front of me. Also in my left pocket are marble size steel bearings. I have heard that tossed over your shoulder at speed they bounce off of the asphalt about windshield height. In the old days guys would carry ball-peen hammers. Now a days an good extending ASP will get a cagers attention, according to the rumors. Have a friend that carry's a flare gun in his left pocket.

Flare gun! I'm gonna get me one! They are bulky, but I'll deal with it. One thing that no one has touched on, if you are riding at "get away" speed and you have drawn a gun, you need to think about two things, hanging onto the gun and the handle bar at the same time!

With next year being my 25th year of riding, I can tell you that there has NEVER been an incident that would require me to draw while riding. I have gotten off the bike and had a few "discussions" with individuals, but never anything I could not evade to a safer place and off the bike.

As stated before, I don't care if your riding a Harley that feels like a snail, a proficient rider should be able to out accelerate/maneuer a car, (unless that's a Ferrari on your ass). Keep your distance and watch your surroundings/mirrors. It's been an old habit for me whether in a car or bike.

It doesn't matter if I'm on the Wing with my honey or on one of my vintage sportbikes, 95% of the time I carry a very reliable, well stoked .380 on the inside of my left Alpinestar boot. I am almost always on a bike, I stop alot and run errands, get something to eat, stop at a friends, you name it. So in the warmer weather even though I always ride with a jacket, the jacket comes off when I stop for any length of time, so the boot is an ideal spot for me!

BTW, if any local squids can't seem to be lose that 25 yr old bike in they're mirror, that would be me on the Spencer repli-racer.

Ride safe!!

Some interesting responses so far. I ride a VTX1300 and carry at 6:30-7:00 position. The chances that you would have to draw your piece while riding are probably slim, but you should try to plan for as many possibilities as possible. I am right handed but train drawing with my left on the bike because I don't want to lose throttle if I end up having to draw.
Just last week while riding to work at night I had a guy on purpose come into my lane while going down the highway at 80mph around a sweeping curve. After he passed me (because of traffic) I caught up to him and looked over at him and shook my head and then throttled up and left him behind. About 10 miles later there I am minding my own business and here he comes barreling up on me again. I reached around with my left behind my back to "fix my jacket" and he got the hint and backed off never to be seen again. The point being there are some people out there that seem to enjoy messing with bikers and you may run into a situation where having your weapon accessible while still having throttle may be a benefit for you. My .02

Interesting situation. However, if he had pulled up next to you with a gun in hand, your best option still would not have been to draw. A quick stop, followed by turning around and riding up the shoulder of the road in the opposite direction would surely get you out of trouble without having to draw and shoot. I'm still having a hard time envisioning a scenario where drawing your weapon while riding would be one's best option. I suppose it's possible, but I think a lightning strike is more probable.

I always wear a leather, even when hot out. I carry in my inside chest pocket and it is easy to get to even if zipped it only take a quick zipper pull. It's like the pocket was made for it.
