| Defensive Carry Holsters & Carry Options There are some really good defensive carry holster designs, as well as some very bad ones on the market today. Whether you are in the market for a new holster or just discovered another perfect carry option, let us know about it here. |

I only recently discovered Kramer Holsters but I am VERY happy with the two I have and am planning on buying a third, a Vertical Belt Scabbard for my 1911!

Thanks Pogo2 for the pictures, they show it perfectly. Again, I think the fit and finish on my scabbard are absolutely perfect except the gun isn't pulled actually "tight" against the body like I'd want it to be. I can slip a finger inbetween and it almost wobbles as if it's "hanging" in space versus being pulled in close to the body but I'll have to say I don't know anything about making holsters! It might be just the way that particular holster fits me. It was just unfortunate that after spending $118 for a horse hide holster for a S&W J frame that it prints worse than a don hume or other smple OWB holster.
I suppose that's really the challenge that comes with buying custom holsters that we pay a lot for and then wait a lot of months for and we've never so much as handled them in person much less tried them on. It's a shame that's the way you have to buy the real custom holsters! Can't blame the makers for that but it's a shame, especially if you don't have a lot of extra cash but want something that's the best. God Bless Gideon |

I found mine on ebay so it could be they had a contract that required a thumb break and I just got a production over run. As far as the ride, I have a Don Hume pancake that rides tighter but I also have a Gould and Goodrich 3 slot pancake that I feel rides about the same.

I've got an MSP for 229R and this thing will last forever! The horsehide is so stiff I had to put the gun in a plastic bag for 3 days, still no joy.
The paddle is bigger than my Hume and Galco so that takes getting used to. If it ever breaks in I'll write a field report...

Dirtdawg,
How does the 229R ride in the MSP? Is is tight and concealable enough for carry under an oversize shirt? Do you have any other OWBs for your 229? If so, how does the MSP compare in terms of concealability? |

I have several MSP's for my 1911s and Smith 1006/1076/4566 and M&Pc. Absolutely love them also have several IWB#3's and find them to be well built and comfortable. Sometimes Kramers customer service lacks but the products make up for it!

I still can't decide between the MSP and the Scabbard!
![]() I'd prefer the MSP but the main reason (aside from comfort) that I'm going from IWB to OWB is the fact that IWB tends to pull my pants down due to my body shape. Several members suggested that OWB would alleviate this. However, since the MSP has a paddle that goes inside my pants (just like and IWB holster but a lot thinner), I'm afraid that this might cause my pants to be pulled down just like my IWB dilemma. Anyone here have any ideas? BTW, I still plan on wearing my belt if I get the MSP. |

The big thing about the MSP and paddle designs in general is they're easy to put on and take off. If you are going in and out of gun free zones frequently during the day, and don't want to walk around with an empty holster on your belt, then a paddle is the way to go. If that is not an issue I would lean towards a good belt holster.
