I have a comp TAC, but had a problem. I don't like wearing undershirts and the cocked and locked hamer and spur of my 1911 really hurt my skin. I went to a friend who own a shoe repaire shop and he glued a small piece of soft leather which protests me from that. Have only worn it once but it appears to have solved my problem.

Not to flame any product but to try to present some balance.

I mentioned above my problem with the C TAC and my solution.

Having said that I am chubby and frankly with my body build it does not hide very well. I have tried two different holsters Galco and CTAC and with them both, the butt of my 1911 is very obvious. (NO comments about my butt being obvious please. I am all gut and no butt. )

I am close to disbelieving those who say any holster conceals a 1911 under a T-Shirt. Certainly not with my shape. Also there is nothing comfortable with carrying a 1911 with 5" barrel. It's going to jab you somewhere unless you constantly shift it around when going from standing to sitting and vice versa.

As a result I pretty much stick with my UBG IWB and PM 9.

When I have to be warmly dressed I sometimes use the CTAC with 1911, normally with a coat or long shirt unbuttoned, and untucked over a T-shirt.

Again many people love the CTAC and I don't mean to knock it. It works for them. You can try it and send it back if you don't like it.

(PS I also have one h-e-l-l of a time putting the thing on and securing it with the C clamps but they do include J clamps and I haven't tried them yet.)

As a heavy guy (6', 260#), this is one of my big concerns. I am CHL-less at the moment, so the only place I carry is at home - which I do whenever I am home. Obviously concealment is not my #1 priority, but I don't like to be out in the yard or grilling out in the driveway, showing off my gun either. I too carry a 5" 1911, and I actually carry mine in a slide OWB holster with my normal T-Shirts pulled over it. It was almost a week before my mother (who lives with me, not the other way around) knew I was even carrying on a regular basis. I haven't had to shift it or move it at all when I sit as it rides very comfortably at 3:30-4 o'clock. All that said, were I to be real active or moving a lot (which I do at work regularly), I wouldn't want an OWB holster, as the bottom would end up showing a lot. So I'm looking for an IWB...

The C-Tac is actually the holster I am currently looking at for when I do finally get the CHL (almost got the money saved up now) and from the pictures I've seen, the placement I've tried with my gun, and the reviews I've read it seems as if it will work pretty good - the only thing I am worried about is the hammer being drawn in closer when I am wearing an IWB holster and being uncomfortable. As for kydex being IWB, I've worn an undershirt everyday of my life since my sophomore year of high school (when puberty decided I should sweat copiously), so I'm not overly worried about that... do you think that the undershirt will be enough for the hammer as well?

I carry a Glock 19 in a C-Tac and added a set of the new standard belt clips. I have it mounted with the top hole in the rear and 3rd in the front. This gives about a 25 degree cant. I wear it at 4:00 and with a pair of shorts and T-shirt, it doesn't print at all. The trick is to hide the butt of the grip.

im always in a tshirt. i donno about cross draws of sobs, but i use the CTAC iwb holster @ 3 o clock with a 1911 defender sized gun, and it conceals perfectly, even on my small girly framed body which cant conceal much.
if that doesnt work, then with the smartcarry i can conceal it for sure

Galco USA at 3:30, t-shirt tucked in all around and bloused out at the waistband. Been doing that for a year or better, no issues at all, it disappears.

I got a Blackhawk SERPA holster for my P220. Attached the paddle included with it and adjusted it for cross draw carry. It is now my favorite rig! And, you absolutely CANNOT beat the price!!
