Black or tan?

I've always wondered about this choice when it comes to holsters or carry rigs. The options of black and tan, or (other than black). I usually see more of the tan available (depends on where I'm shopping). Is this because the manufacturer needs to sell more of them in tan or what? Quite frankly, I have never even considered purchasing a tan over a black holster or rig. I have had one (1) tan color rig in my repertoire, and that was an Old World Leather shoulder rig, for under jacket/cold weather carry. I'm a jeans/t-shirt kind of guy, and for the life of me I just can't see any other selection options for mag pouches or holsters in anything other than black. State your case for or against black as the best option for holsters/rigs. Thanks.

I have both black and tan from the same maker, but I tend to carry the black more than the tan. The black tends or so it seems to me, to conceal better when I wear a dark T-shirt under a cover garment.

I say neither ... I prefer Cordovan ... especially on a stainless steel pistol with wood grips.

I think that black is less conspicuous, but what really seems to matter the most is that it matches the belt. Otherwise it tends to stand out like a beacon.

I go with what compliments the firearm.

Stainless finish= black
Dark finish= tan
Glock=kydex

Some stainless looks goon in tan, as long as the grips match the tan.

My goodness I sound like a woman picking out a purse.

I don't care for tan, purely for esthetic reasons. I have both black and cordovan holsters for each gun, as well as belts and ammo carriers in both colors. Naturally, I have boots in both colors as well to match.

I've never given any thought to which color is better for concealment, since I do a good enough job of concealing that I don't have to worry about it. But I do carry openly every day at my job, so it's important to me that everything looks good and matches well.

LONG

I thought the topic was Black and Tan. I assumed it was a thread about beer! LOL

Seriously though, I prefer black. I think it is less conspicuous.

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black

I tend to wear black jackets or sweatshirts so a black holster works best for me. If I show a little holster when I bend over it doesn't stick out.
