OWB uncomfortable?

Just reading the "IWB uncomfortable" thread, and just wondering if anyone has the opposite problem, as I do?

Carrying now for 20+ years, every imaginable pistol, and always IWB, in either a Sparks SS2/Exec. Companion or VM2....as well as an assortment of kydex offerings by Comptac/Sidearmor, etc. Always with a good 1.5" proper gun belt.

Purchased a Sparks 55BN and a lovely Alessi CQC/S in the past few months, and couldn't get comfortable with either! Seems as though OWB holsters pinch me and tug on my jeans and such the wrong way, making carrying in that manner almost impossible.

Then I revert back to my current fleet.....G33 in an Exec. Companion/5" 1911 in the SS2 or the G21 in it's VM2, and I'm happy again, all day every day.

Can anyone relate?

I just suggested that poster to try an OWB, I don't think I have met anyone that was actually uncomfortable with one!

Just goes to show a fella, everyone's different!

Usually OWB is known for maximum carry comfort.

Send me your CQC/S, that will relieve some of your pain.

Seriously, I have "bad" carry days sometimes. Sometimes I just can't seem to get things comfortable no matter what I do. I have found that the Perry suspenders help (even with a gun belt) to keep things up. It also enables you to loosen your belt a little bit. I got mine at Wally World for about $7 IIRC.

Too late...he already sent it to me for my G20!
Like most here, I've never found OWB uncomfortable at all.

Yes, Bill has my last OWB holster.

I'm not messin' with you guys! I feel naked without that familiar presence on my right hip, and after owning and wearing MANY different OWB holsters, I just cannot find one that I'm happy with. They all just rub me wrong, for one reason or another.

I feel so sad and lonely.

Could be you just don't like all that extra weight hanging on your belt.

Picture it this way. Take a 3 lb weight in your hand and hold it straight out from the body. 3 lbs isn't much, but after a short period of time it gets quite heavy and your arm will start to fatigue. Now take that same 3 lb weight and with your arm straight out from the body, push the weight up against a wall and hold it there. The harder you push against the wall the more the wall will help support the weight. If you push hard enough you could probably hold the weight up all day.

Now picture your belt as being the arm that is holding up the weight, the weight being your gun and your body being the wall it is pushed up against. The tighter you wear the belt with the gun clamped between it and the body (as with IWB carry), the less weight the belt has to support. Outside the belt, the belt supports 100% of the load.

I really don't know nothing about physics, but that's my theory and I'm sticking with it.

I won't argue that analogy Tony.

Although, carrying a firearm IWB, in the same spot day after day, year after year has one expecting that same spot being filled the next morning, eh? I don't feel comfortable with that spot in my waistband not containing a pistol of some sort.

I'm just not comfy with OWB carry.....I'll let it rest there.

You've spoiled me.

OK, now sit back and tell Dr. Supertac45 when this all started. Now send me all you OWB holsters, and I'll dispose of those critters. Actually, I'm almost to this same point. It just feels better IWB than OWB.

Doc,

Even the big ol' fatty G20/21 feel better to me whilst worn IWB. How can I cure this affliction??
