Kydex IWB for J-Frame

I finally wore out my old uncle mike's and decided it was time to roll my own kydex for this J-frame. Here are the results:

Wow, looks great. Where did you get the stuff to make it? I've been thinking about trying carrying at 2 o'clock recently and have also given thought to making my own kydex holster. Maybe I will have to give it a shot. Thanks for the motivation!

You can get most everything at knifekits.com. It's easier that I thought it would be. Took me an hour to make this holster.

Yup, Kydex is disgustingly easy to work with. I've made my own for my carry, and a second for my airsoft practice piece.

J-frames are a PITA compared to an auto.

mhm2a - what thickness Kydex did you go with?

Wow, nice job. Rivets and belt strap from knifekits.com also? How is the retention so that it doesn't pop out?

I was also wondering what you used to install the rivet. I don't have a press or anything like that and I'm not sure what I would use. The idea being to not spend any money on tools. lol. Again, looks great. You've sparked my curiousity. And just when I was looking for a project!

This is my second Kydex holster and I am sure I will make more. I can't remember the thickness, but it was the thinest offered from knifekits.com and yes the rivets and belt strap came from there as well. I am using a rivet setting kit from the local craft store instead of a die and press. It works pretty well as long as you are patient in setting it up. It is much also much easier to form kydex to a semi-auto pistol as opposed to a j-frame.

Wlynn- the retention is set from the portion surrounding the trigger guard. You can see from the pictures it is compressed a little further by hand at that point to create as much tension or lack of tension you want.
