Comp-Tac's Minotaur Spartan (the cheaper one)

I figured I would post on this one since I haven't found any other reviews on it. Comp-Tac : Products

I was going to get a C-TAC, then liked the MTAC idea of having some leather on the inside, but it cost more. The Spartan is the barebones, lower cost version of the MTAC. The part that makes it cheaper is it's not as finished and pretty looking. It doesn't have another piece of leather covering the fasteners. I like this part though, because while not as nice looking, who cares? you're not showing off a concealed holster anyways. Also, and this is an assumption, that it would be thinner without the extra layer of leather.

I was concerned a bit that the fasteners not being covered would be a problem, but I wore it without a shirted tucked in between and I couldn't feel anything sticking out or even noticeable.

The one main downside I did notice was that the leather had pretty sharp edges on the side that contacted my body at the top where the back of the slide would meet the hip. I did tuck a shirt in and it took care of it, but was still a bit uncomfortable without anything tucked in between. I fixed this problem by using sandpaper and smoothed down the edges of the leather. This completely eliminated the problem. Since the sanding, I have gone 2 days wearing it without a shirt tucked in between the leather and me, and it feels great.

I still may need time to fully break it in, but I am very happy with it. I would say if finish is more of a concern then get the MTAC, but if you want to save a few bucks, it's worth it. Maybe Comp-Tac can address the sharper edges of the leather cut? Then it would be perfect. But either way it was easy to smooth out.

Anyone else have one?

I seriously considered the Spartan, but was concerned about the uncovered fasteners so I went for the MTAC which I really like. Glad the Spartan worked out for you!

I honestly didn't find it necessary, but that would probably take care of it if it was a concern.

mole skin

I received the moleskin with my Spartan. I was fine without it so I used part of it on my Miltsparks Watch Six for friction purposes . I love the watch six but it has always been so slick it would sag because I don't have enough hips to hold it up. Then I took the remainder of it and put it on the Spartan, I can already tell that over time it may not stay on as well as I would like because it is starting to roll up on the edges.
