I find that it depends a l lot on the brand of pants. I wear either 32 or 33 so I know what I need to buy depending on the maker. Or go to the dressing room and try the pants on with your rig.

It depends on the holster design. The holsters with the loops spread out are just fine in my 34" Levis and Carhartts. The only reinforced opening IWB I can comfortably wear is the VM II. Anything else and I'd need to go up in size but then I look like I'm swimming in them. For me, designs like the Watch Six and other similar holsters are the most usable.

I am 6'3' and weigh 260 pounds. Carry an XD45 Service in a CTAC holster. I buy my trousers one size larger and this works quite well for this carry combo.

I noticed you didn't mention what one size larger is.

my holster fits fine... but that's because i have to buy a waist size bigger then it should be because of my bigger legs and butt (bodybuilder). for some reason, mens pants are designed on the idea that all men have a flat butt and skinny legs. it's funny, i try on different sizes of the same jeans and the only thing that actually gets bigger is the waist... the legs, etc., stay the same. annoying.

I have not had to go a size larger. I even lost a few pounds and bought a couple pair for my new (optomistic) size and all works well. Even when switching from the 1911 to the USP. Good Luck.

Sam.

Hey CDWolf.. you notice that only the thin guys state their waist sizes! "I'm a 32 and wear 34's." Tell me that in 10 years.
You'll never hear "I'm an obese 52" and need to lose 100 lbs!" Or I don't need an IWB holster because my gun fits perfectly between my pants and gets printed into my fat stomach!
