Talking Holster Lovers Holster Makers Check Out This Rig.

It's quite vintage. It's a 1911 rig.
What a neat & bizarre rig! A TON of work sure went into making this one.
Yep, I know. It's a closed Ebay auction. Normally I would have copied the photos and stitched them together...uploaded them to our forum gallery and then opened this thread but, I'm on my laptop tonight with no mouse and photoshopping pics is extremely difficult.
I'll delete this thread in a day or two but, catch these holster pics before the photos go away.

OK I stitched the pics together and saved the photo to our gallery so now there is no need to link to the closed auction which closed at US $264.09 (By The Way)
You're always taking a chance whenever you buy antique leather but, I think somebody got a deal on this item.

WOW!!! Can't imagine what a new rig like that would cost these days. That "buckle" area of the belt is really unique (at least to me). So ... did you buy it?

That is a very interesting rig. I bet it has some real stories to tell.

Did it give an idea of how old it is?
I like the buckle idea a it centers the unique pattern of the alligator (?) back spining. It is alligator right?

quite the bbq rig from days gone by . Personally looking at the auction i suspect his estimate of it being from the 40s or 50s is a bit off . I would more suspect the teens or 20s due to the styling of the holster and 3 piece belt.

I agree with RR and think it is probably from the 20's as well according to the style.

That is really something special.

I would bet that it was originally a Sheriff or some state investigative type ( ranger or osbi ect.. ) in the western south who had it made back when . I will also further speculate that somewhere out there there is a nice engraved/gripped up 1911 quite possibly in .38 super that resided in the holster when it was new.

Yep...Sounds right!

I bet there's a naked alligator wandering around kind of PO'd too......

That's some holster work. Just wow!

Not sure exactly how old it is but, it's timeless.
Certainly before the era of the mandatory covered trigger guard.
