Funny deal.
My smartcarry hangs up my J-frames, but not my Tauri or Charters. The J-frame situation can be alleviated by use of safety pins or cotton, as suggested by others. It's the doggondest thing, though. Something about how the cylinder or the trigger guard is fabricated at just the perfect angle to hang up on that lip sewn in the top of the smartcarry. In any event, I doubt that such a momentary hangup would stop me from getting at my " lil' frien' " if was seriously needing it...I might rip the smartcarry or something, but I WILL get that piece out if I need it to save my carcass....

Okay, the fix for revolvers snagging on the top edge of a SmartCarry is to insert a thin (i.e. heavy paper) piece of plastic or Kydex trimmed to the shape of the pouch holding the revolver. Use double sided tape to adhere the plastic to the inside front of the pouch.
I also just switched to a "medium" SmartCarry which allows my S&W642CT to sit lower in the holster and will not activate my Crimson Trace laser button on the front strap. FWIW |

I carry a j-frame with no problems. I have had a 642, 649 and now a 340 and none of those gave me any trouble trying to draw.

![]() Carry my hammerless SP101 with a Cold Steel Vaquero Grande and two speed strips (only one shows) with absolutely no problem at all.

I had the exact same problem with my 642 hanging on the cylinder. I slip a cheap Uncle mikes, that I sometimes use for pocket or coat carry, in there and she comes out like butter!
