Glocks are great guns (they're all I carry now), but they can be very dangerous if not handled carefully. All it takes is to have something get inside the trigger guard, and you'll have a ND, since there is no real external safety lever. I have read that grazing leg wounds were so common among LEOS with newly-issued Glocks, that emergency room staff around the country started calling them "Glock Stripe".

I felt weird about it for some time but now its just like my wallet and cell phone. Company policy ends where my right to defend myself begins.
Well, the problem is that my job gets pretty physical, and there would be no real way for me to conceal a weapon. Plus, I work in a shop full of big, heavy tools...a few whacks upside the head with one of them would take anyone out of the fight for awhile LOL. My car's parked just outside the door, so I'm rarely ever more than about a minute away from my weapon if I were to feel I needed it.

On the other hand, I worked at a part time retail job up until recently. One of the regular customers (with anger issues, apparently) became irate over some trivial problem, and threatened my life several times on different occasions. The management did nothing about it, and kept doing business with the person like nothing had happened. I began carrying there (against company policy) after I realized how little they actually cared about the safety of their employees. In hindsight, I should have immediately quit; nothing is worth being put in that sort of situation, and it certainly won't happen again.

Hi PACKIN45, best regards. You said you have your gun "one minute away from you", if you ever needs your gun for true, you will have just 2 seconds to get it. If you really need a gun permanently, what about a .22 or .32 pistol or .38 M60 in an ankle holster?

Yeah, to my knowlegde I wouln'd be able to pull off even my thin CW9, my p3at maybe, but as many times as I've soaked pockets with oil/etc...

We have pocket clip flat blade screwdrivers, so I always carry one strong side b/c it is for work related dutys, but its VERY sharp, so I'm sure in an emergency it'd servce as an excellent 'shank'.

Sadly its against company policy, although my interview consited off a casual discussion regarding ammo choice for the CEO of the companys shiny new Taurus Judge

I think my plans are to get a NAA revo as an extreme bug, better than nothing?

Mexican carry-big no no. I am just too clumsy to pull it off!? Lol

Well, I could always put my weapon in my toolbox (it's huge), but I would be immediately terminated if someone were to see me with it inside the building. With a family to feed, rent, a car payment, and other various bills, I just can't risk my job over going to work armed. The company I work for bans guns, but cannot keep me from leaving it locked in my car per MN law.

Besides, my work rarely brings me into contact with the public....they are not allowed into the plant where I work, and would really have no reason to want to be there in the first place. I spend my workday in a shop located in the far rear corner of the production plant, completely walled off, and with only one door on each end. There is parking directly outside, and in one of those parking spaces is my car, with my Glock in the glove box.

It's about as good as it gets, for working somewhere that bans guns.

If it is a felony I am not suggesting you carry at work! Check your laws, it may not be. In my state (Texas) company policy doesn't mean anything. Yes, you could lose your job, but I have never even been close to being made. As far as being in a business where you do a lot of kneeling and bumping into people, I waited tables for three years and packed the entire time. I have never had a single problem. Kel-tec make a great line of "utility" concealment guns. I have a little .380 auto that has been in my pocket for 4 years. When waiting tables I put some iron on velco at the top of my carry pocket for added safety in case I fell down. To sum it up - If your gun is in your car when someone starts shooting it might as well be in China. You are dead. If your not breaking a state or federal law and you have a CCL, it is your duty to yourself and your family to carry. Just my opinion though...

I understood you have had a problem with a customer wich react against you in a dangerous way, so you feel unsafe. On some moment if a situation with this guy go really hot, maybe you must choice between your life and your job. I have two jobs: one is part time, in a security company (I worked full time with them for 14 years before now, so I have firearms and security training) and my main job now wich is in a loan company, where I should order auctions time to time. About that there are some people wich threat my life very rude because the situation, so I take this very seriously and carry my gun permanently.
