Holster recommendation, M&P40c

I need an off the shelf holster for a 40c to use while I wait for a custom leather order to be filled. I require a leather, open top OWB, FBI cant, 1.5" slots. I also prefer a rig that lends itself to concealed carry, so duty holsters are excluded. Can anyone make a suggestion? I'm having more difficulties finding leather for this gun than I expected.

I would very much like something similar to the DeSantis Check Mate. Similar in that a holster have just enough leather to cover the muzzle. Color is not important, as long as its tan, brown, or black.

Oh yeah. My other requirement is the cost is around or under $75. Thanks for any suggestions.

Post this question on the M&P forum site. I think you'll also get some good answers there. The #1 Compact, Full Size, and Modified M&P Pistol Source :: MP-Pistol.com

Nothing so far from M&P forum.

No one here carries one of these little buggers OWB?

Comp-Tac "belt holster" is in the mail to me. Review to follow. It's a neutral cant.
I considered the Disantis Viper for five dollars more than your preferred upper limit. I want to avoid the "FBI", muzzle-rearward cant.
You say "a holster have just enough leather to cover the muzzle", but you will probably go with trigger cover. The instructor of my HCP class gave some primary considerations for a holster including accessability but also retention, concealablity, comfort, and maybe others I'm not remembering right now. But I consider retention a priority.

I was in a MA shop yesterday that had a bunch of M&P Compact holsters. Speed Scabbard, Serpa, etc. even some for Lefties. The shop owner is a Lefty and carries an M&P 45 Midsize, so he's partial to that line of firearms.

Prices were well below your threshold.

They are very nice folks and might be willing to ship something if you need it. Tell them that Len sent you.

I don't have an 'FBI' cant, but the Rosen upper limit fits the bill nicely for me. He only runs about 3 weeks turnaround, but you never know, he may have a holster for your needs in stock. Give Mitch a call...

Comp-Tac Belt Holster Falls Short

GingerKid, Do you wear at 4 o'clock? Does the Rosen keep the handle grip next to you (without jutting) for good concealability?

All, I said I'd review the Comp-Tac Belt Holster. I have to say that I'm disappointed
Retention is great with the kydex holster and hex key. I like that and met that priority with the holster. But the Comp-Tac site says that the holster is IDPA-legal although I can see light through the belt loops, and that isn't IDPA-legal according to their rule book. It also isn't functional for concealability. At 4 o'clock, the grip sticks out my slim back like a rifle stock.
I'm sure that Comp-Tac is a great company. And I'm keeping the belt and the mag pouches. Customer service is friendly and open. But I'll recoup my losses on the holster for a Rosen or DiSantis or ....

+1 on Mitch Rosen UPL holster. This holster in my opinion is perfect for subcompact guns!!! Because it's a straight drop holster a subcompact with it's short grip is ideal.

Here's a picture of mine with a full size HK P2000. I just purchased the subcompact version the P2000SK, which I'll be using with this holster. Haven't had a chance to take pictures yet.

Good Luck!!
