His shark belts come with a stiffener. I think that's because the belt is cowhide backing and shark top layer. While shark is super tough it's not as stiff as 2 layers of cowhide (or horsehide). I have 2 in shark, both have the stiffener (1.25" for business attire, and 1.5" for other times). I absolutely love these belts, as well as my cowhide. Next purchase will be elephant.

I recommend The Belt Man belts. I have 2 from him - a bullhide and a sharkskin. The both perform very well, and I expect I will get another sometime soon.

Thanks for all of your input.

I have decided to go for the Beltmans 1.5 inch Bullhide belt.

Now for the money question. Should I go with or without the stiffener? Any downsize with the stiffener?
