Favorite exotic skin?
What's everyone's favorite exotic skin for their holsters? This is what I have (so far) exoticwise:
-Del Fatti PH-3 in black alligator -K&D Pocket Defender trimmed with black elephant tail I also have two Beltman belts. One is elephant the other shark. I prefer the elephant but the shark looks great also. I have a couple of K&D Dakota Defenders on order and if I'm not too late, I'd like to add some exotic skin trim. I'm leaning towards: -stingray -bullfrog -alligator -elephant I'll probably pick two different skins from the above list, one for each holster. I know the alligator, elephant and shark are tough but how is the bullfrog? I'm assuming the stingray is similar in toughness as the shark. Any others to consider? Will any of these skins add significantly to the thickness of the holster? Since mine are IWB (tucked), I want the most comfort over looks. If anyone wants to share some holster porn with the group that would be great. Thanks for the input. ![]()

I like Elephant personally. Very Majestic animals. Never saw a Bullfrog holster. Bullfrogs have tough skin?

I like both the gator and elephant trims, and of the two, the elephant is much more affordable. OMO

Thanks for the replies everyone,
Maybe I'll stick to elephant on at least one to match my belt. I sure do like that alligator and stingray too though. Here's a pic of bullfrog (not sure what kind, very nice holster BTW): http://garritysgunleather.com/Sneaky...m-Bullfrog.jpg Leaning towards elephant and alligator now. Thanks again.

My favorite has always been shark. I was in Vegas years ago for a paintball tournament and saw a young Japanese man (I'm not convinced he wasn't a gangster) wearing a sharkskin jacket. I've wanted one ever since. My shark belt from Rafter S is beautiful and my shark trimmed holster from KD is the cat's meow.
Later, B.

American Alligator, no question about it. Honorable mention to ostrich, the type that has the quill bumps.
<----------------------- Bullfrog. He didn't like the photo of the Bullfrog holster. No sir, not one bit. ![]() Above, Center cut American Alligator.

![]() I really like the alligator also. I have it on a Del Fatti PH-3 exactly like in this photo: http://www.delfatti.com/photos/photos/189.jpg Yeah, one of them will definitely be alligator, the other probably elephant. I'll save the stingray for a later holster/belt combo. My wife is going to kill me. ![]() Thanks again for the input everyone.

Have never gone exotic. I like the idea of a longer-lasting, abrasion-resistant material. Elephant and shark are indicated to be that, but the price can be double or triple that of a good bull hide unit. Plus, I have yet to have a holster or good belt wear out. So, haven't done it before.
That said, I suppose elephant intrigues me. Elephant belt, 1.5", double thickness, tapered to 1-1/8", stiffener, sewing to last a lifetime, few embellishments. That would just about do.

I've got a OWB that this elephant with gator trim that I love and it ALWAYS gets comments when I take it to the range. Elephant is extremely durable and certainly worth the money.
