I've been unable to covertly carry at 3:00 my 1911's with full size grips. I end up at 3:30 - 4:00 to get that grip behind me and paralell to the back. |

. That is probably how I get away with it, though the correct holster certainly helps. As I stated in another thread, I expect if I lost the weight, the holster would work it's way back around 8:30/8:00.... but that remains to be seen. Heck, might even move it forward towards appendix carry (probably the best option for those with the build to pull it off, it offers excellent concealment and about the quickest draw possible).

i carry my 1911 sometimes.mostly in the winter, its no problem since its slim. no problem at all really.
i don't understand why some people think they need to find a very small gun to carry to be comfortable.

![]() I've carried my 5' 1911 in a Royal Guard by Galco for what seems to be about a hundred years. Of course, that's a real exaggeration but it serves to make the point. Carrying a 1911 IWB is not a really big deal. A good holster, a good gun belt, and it carries quite well IWB or OWB.

Howdy Folks (oh no! another first post)
FWIW, have carried a 1911A1 or clone IWB most of the times for just over 50 years. Originally Mexican carry and once they invented IWB holsters I've learned to use them. I prefer a Galco cross-draw when ever possible, but retired now it usually isn't viable in "society". At 5'11' + and 250 pounds, the Galco 'Royal Guard' works well for me at about 3:30, that's with 46" chest and a waist ... ummm real close to the same a one size larger shirt (Tee or Sport) outside the pants conceals just fine. As everyone knows, trousers need to be about 2" larger waist as well, with an IWB, otherwise it's intolerable. Back when I was 185, 32 waist and 44" chest, mexican carry reversed behind the hip was a very comfortable carry, especially in Levi's or Wranglers, without a holster and with normal waist. As has been said, the thinness of the 1911 and clones make it fairly easy to conceal Well JMHO, YMMV New to this Forum but I've been around a while on some others, and I've spent a couple days lurking and reading here and liked what I saw.
