Running/Jogging with a handgun

Does anybody have any practical experience of carrying a small handgun while running?

I try to walk or run four miles, four days a week. I carry a knife but have never found a way to carry a handgun and it doesn't make sense for me to be always armed except when exercising.

I have thought about some type of belly band or even a small fanny pack. I don't know if I could tolerate the bouncing of the fanny pack and I probably would have to wear it in front of my left hip to be able to get to the gun.

Any ideas that have actually worked for you will be appreciated.

The only gun I can run with is my KelTec P32, anything else is way to annoying; and even the KT is... I came up with an armband much like what is used to carry Ipods. I had a pocket sewn in the inside of the band and I carry it on the inside of my left arm, Ipod rides on the outside.

It works well, I do between 3 and 5 miles 4 days a week.

No pictures, my camera is KIA.

You might consider one of several products refered to as Thunderwear. It is designed to conceal a handgun in your crotch area, which is about the only practical place if you're jogging.

I dont jog 'cause I walk alot during the day at work, but, I cant imagine trying to carry a gun and then jogging 4-5 miles with it slapping against my body anywhere. I would think it would be uncomfortable as all get out.

Have you considered maybe a good quality pepper spray? I bought bear spray for my wife and comes with a wrist strap for joggers. I may be wrong but I would think that as long as you are already running, you should be able to divert any trouble you may encounter as long as your situational awareness was online. If you needed a gun while running, how could anyone take a good aim whilst out of breath? Pepper spray has a bigger pattern. Good luck.

Running is one of those times where I don't think there's any good way to conceal and carry one comfortably.

Which is why (well that a bum knee) that I'll take up bike riding once I have my CHL if I'm going to exercise outside of the house.

KT is about the only reasonable firearm I can see carrying while jogging

Since I have a bum knee, I've been walking every night around 3 miles. I carry my G23 in a Crossbreed holster wearing a wifebeater as an undershirt. After a week or so, I don't even feel the gun anymore.

As for running or jogging, I don't think I could manage that with any holster. Besides, how would it look if I was jogging while I was smoking my cigar? :)

It turns out that my 3 mile loop that I walk is just long enough to walk at a fast pace AND still finish my cigar as I reach my driveway. lol
