IWB Shirt modification?
So i have been trying out IWB carry with a tuckable holster. The problem I am running into is that the western shirts I wear have a decently long tail to them. Anybody out there ever modify a shirt with a "notch" to leave only 2-3 inches of fabric past the belt line at the normal carry position?
The modification will not be hard, 2 min. at the sewing machine and a pair of scissors. my concern is that i am thinking the difference might pull or shift above the tucked position occasionally. Any one out there try this before or am I in my own little world again? |

I blouse my shirts when I tuck them in. It helps with concealing anyway.

I used to have my pants, shirts and sports jackets tailored for my gun. I'd think any tailor could do exactly what you want for a few bucks. Talk to him first and make sure it's cool to bring your gun in for a custom fit. I understand about the tails being too long and gathering up. Shouldn't be an issue for them to be notched and shortened at the gun location. I'll bet you get a price break if you bring in a bunch to be done at once.

Tailoring is an option
The blousing is always a good thing but I am 5 10 and weigh 145 pounds with a 28 inch waist blousing a medium wrangler shirt can get very billowy.
As far as the tailoring yes i now it can be done but alas the economic times have tightened the purse strings in everyones household I believe. I am fairly handy with a sewing machine I am just going to use an aold shirt and experiment thanks for the input. |

I'd either start with a shirt that you no longer wear, or go with 4-5 inches. Easier to cut more away than to add.
Bend over, reach for the sky, lean and twist. if you make 'em too short, then yes, you will come untucked frequently, and depending on where you carry, sitting will also pull the shirt up. You could always just grab a larger handful of shirt and jerk it up to your armpit when you practice drawing...

Blousing your shirt will also help conceal the belt clips or loops. I know you don't want to blouse them too much but a little bit is necessary for good concealment.
Now as to your build ... I remember those days, it was looooong ago in my younger days. ![]() Jack

.Your idea of getting an old shirt and practicing will be the best, outside of going to a professional tailor. Post pics afterwards, I'd be interested in seeing how it turns out.
