For a Phython I'd go with a Del Fatti LP with Sharkskin trim.

Well, I cant think of any holster or any carry gun that wont show finish wear due to carrying. A tool will show wear if you use it. Its one of those unfortunate things that happen to a carry pistol. I know you want to show off the classic Python and understandably so, its a very nice looking gun, but, to keep it looking good, it should be a safe queen. Good luck in your search.

They don't make Pythons anymore!

I've got three myself, a 4" blue in unfired condition, a Hunter (Halliburton set) that I bought new and is unfired, and a 6" K-Series stainless that is my shooter.

That 2-1/2" blue Python (the rarest of barrel lengths) IS going to show some holster wear if you carry it even if only occasionally. That wear, or having it reblued, will diminish it's value immensely. In short, it's too 'purty to use other than maybe an occasional trip to the range.
But subjecting a clean 2-1/2" Python to holster wear?... Never!

Serious; a 2-1/2" S&W 686 would make a GREAT BBQ pistol AND a practical carry revolver besides. Plus, you can even drop it a few times and you won't feel like you just killed your own child like you would if you dropped the Python.

My .02, but it's worth, like, a million dollars...
Sold! for a million dollars to CDH. Send me the money in small unmarked bills and a copy of your FFL.

I'm thinking a smooth side in holster with, what else, python.

I think Nate's on to something there. A black holster with a light colored python inlay would look great and match the stag grips and deep, dark finish of your revolver (not to mention the appropriate use of the gun's namesake).

I like the idea too. Now if I could just find someone who will make one. You wouldn't know anyone would you?

Gentlemen,
That pistol absolutely MUST have a custom leather holster from a premium maker...trimmed in Python Snakeskin. There is simply NO other option. (Beautiful Colt, by the way. Congrats!)

I'm like Indiana Jones.... I don't do snakes...

Nate makes them, doesn't he? Haugen Handgun Leather also makes gear with snake, and David Cole from DC Knives makes some pretty wicked inlay holsters and sheaths.
