Do you carry an extra magazine?

I would like to see what the percentage is on how many carry an extra magazine.

I'll carry one extra most, but not all, of the time. At home, quick trips out, or just out of convience (read: lazy) I'll just carry my sidearm.

Most often I have one reload with me though. When traveling, I keep several extra mags loaded and close, but generally just one on my person.

This seems like it would be dependent also on the gun. It is a big difference to not carry a reload if you only have a 7-round 1911 versus, say, a Glock 19 with 15 rounds or even a Five-seveN with 30 rounds in a single magazine.

Maybe instead it should be asked, "what is the total number of rounds you have with you when you carry"

My Glocks have never had a magazine problem, so when I first started, I didn't carry an extra mag. After reading lots of related threads on this forum I committed to always carrying at least 1.

I carry the extra magazine to cope with malfunctions, not for the extra rounds, but I always have at least 27 cartridges (G21: 1+13+13, G27: 1+11+15).

Things can go wrong, weapons can malfunction and mistakes can be made, it's best to have an extra mag.

Always one extra, but three extra for travel to Orlando or Jax...(the additional two are usually just in the car).

Stay armed...extra mags are important...stay safe!

Usually one, but sometimes not. Most civilian s.d. gunfights involve very few shots; I think 3 on average.

Agreed, but a malfunction could mean 1 shot from the onboard magazine and 2 from the spare.

Have an extra in the truck and 1 in my jacket pocket in the winter. Did carry 1 on my belt with my 1911 but since swapping over to a BHP do not. Do carry 1 speed loader on person for my 36 when carrying it and same for the truck.
