To mold the holster to the shape of the firearm, ya gots to wet the holster in warm water first. THEN put it in a bag or saran wrap and leave it overnight.
Worked great for me!

I've used wax paper on my holsters when needed and it seems to work fine. In a pinch I've used a baggie and it worked too.

Be careful with the wax paper it can make the gun come out easier than you might want it to. It might depend on the type of holster.
Try it with the wax paper just by wrapping the gun and putting it in and out of the holster a few times. This is better than finding that you don't like what you did.

Thanks for all the input. I never even knew I could use wax paper or a plastic bag!

Best bet is to follow the recommendations from the maker of the holster (check their website or call them, they probably list the procedure, trust me they have been asked this before!).

To make a new holster work for me, here's what I do (some can probably guess my info's source ). First try (with an unloaded weapon) 20 to 100 presentations of the weapon (drawing). If this doesn't wear it in sufficiently, try "blocking' the holster. Insert the unloaded weapon into a plastic bag (my holster maker suggests the 4 mil plastic bag the holster is in when I open the box on delivery), and place it in the holster. The time needed will vary, from a few minutes to overnight.

As to getting a holster wet? Only had a manuf. suggest that once, it was only for lengthening a strap on a thumb break holster for a S&W 59 (and they had me wet ONLY the thumb break strap). Wetting should NEVER be done unless it is suggested by the manufacturer. As to molding it to the weapon, that is the holster makers job.

I take a new holster and sit in front of the TV...draw and reholster several hundred times.
Then I use a thin cloth strip (old T-shirt) and put strips along the barrel and holster over night.
Repeat as necessary...
Seems to work for me.

When I got my High noon split decision for my M&P I thought they had sent me the wrong one because it looked WAY too small for the gun. I read the instructions and after working the seams with my fingers (had some minor blisters the next day) and then actually putting my gun in a sock and forcing it into the holster to sit overnight, it fits perfectly. It is tight enough that it wont fall out if I hold it upside down, but draws nicely.
