Post They Are Rare But They Still Do Pop Up

Randall Firearms DID make a true LEFT HANDED 1911.
You can still find one but, they are decently collectible these days so expect to pay out some $$$.
They still do pop up on Gunbroker.com but, are few and far between.

Now REMEMBER that you need Leftie spare magazines for it also.

But you COULD have a precision machinist mill magazine slots on the opposite side of righty mags.

Here you go South Paws...eat your respective hearts out.

Now there IS a Leftie 1911 parts kit being sold on Gunbroker right now but, no frame and the custom machine work to build a true leftie on a righty frame would probably be pretty cost prohibitive.

I am left handed. However, because I have spent my lifetime working the rifle bolt right handed, the computer mouse right handed, as well as the 1911 right handed, etc., it would be like learning life all over again to switch to items designed for left handers. On the other hand, if you are 10 years old, I suppose you may want to try it.

It's tough being left-handed, though most major holster makers carry most models. Still, if it isn't the gun model, it's the left-handed part that can restrict our choices. Luckily, we're blessed with being smart and good-looking, as all left-handers are......ok, ok at least we have a sense of humor.

And I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous...

Just think how tough it must be to be left handed in Darfur. I bet that's what they talk about over there.....

Being a true, 100% lefty has been a bit inconvinient at times, but really isn't worth getting too upset over.

In guns, most regular firearms work pretty well for a lefty without any modification. Others, like a 1911, need an ambidextrous safety, which isn't expensive or difficult to install. The revolvers and double-action-only and DA/SA pistols work every bit as well for lefties and the common people. We also have a lot of new guns that are true ambidextrous right out of the box.

In holsters, high end leather comes in left or right to order, but middle price range stuff is hit or miss. Some are available for some models, but never for yours. However, there are a number of makers of nylon holsters that are easily switched to right or left and are very inexpensive, but still work quite well.

I have more trouble getting a decent haircut than in finding good firearms and accessories that work for me as alefty.

being lefty

i too am a southpaw. can't say i've had any bad issuses. the only
inconvince would be my maverick 88 shotgun and that the safety
was designed for right-handers but i'm used to it so no real troubles.

just remember,us southpaws are the only ones in our right mind.

It may be a bit tougher finding / using things as a leftie, but I find I am ambidextrous enough to get by just fine. My LH A bolt and Stag are just cause I'm spoil myself rather than a real need.
Holsters can be an issue , mostly for new model guns. It took almost a year to get the holster I wanted for my HK USP when the model was new.

How odd, my only true lefty guns are an A bolt, and a Stag 1L. I never was a big fan of ARs, but the Stag lefties made me buy one. I started to look at the Charter Southpaw, but realized I would have to learn how to shoot a lefty handgun.

I doubt I could master the use of a LH revo, since I went through the PD academy using a M66. My actions are so ingrained with revos at this point it seems darn near impossible to change.

I find most semi autos I can work the slide release/ mag release with my left hand trigger finger.
