I learned alot of things righty too. I remember the nuns used to try to make me write right-handed in school. I can shoot my pistol right handed, and with more practice, I could get comfortable with it. I got a new holster for Christmas-a Blackhawk Serpa. Wifey had to go to Blackhawk's site for it, and she got soaked because it is a lefty item.
I also make sure to keep my left hand free when I leave a store-especially Wallymart. That place has some of the scariest looking individuals at night

Ah, the famous wood ruler with the brass straight edge on it, I'm still terrified of nuns.

Well done T-Bone, I found it the same way when Iwas looking for a username. I found it fitting.

Being a lefty doesn't generally bother me in gun-related issues. While finding lefty holsters on the secondary market might be more challenging, most holster makers don't have any difficulty making LH holsters so new stuff is the way to go. My carry choices consist of a 1911 (with ambi safety) and a P7M8. I find 1911s to be exceedingly LH friendly with the addition of the ambi thumb safety, and the PM8 is almost entirely ambidextrous. I do tend to find Sigs less LH friendly although they are certainly workable.

I'm blessed/cursed with being cross-eye dominant, so I shoot rifles right-handed, eliminating a HUGE lefty shooter headache. Were I left-eye dominant I suppose I would simply buy LH stag AR15 receivers and make do.

Just my 2 cents,
B.

One consolation: magazines are ambi, by design. Not that they were thinkin' of us when they did it, I'm sure ... but, there it is.
Right. While not a 1911, the new HK products are ambi. P2000, P2000SK, P30.

Keep in mind that the left handed issue isn't just for lefties.

If you are injured, how well can you operate your firearm, your knife, one-handed with your off hand?

Ambi just makes sense.
