IWB for Ruger SP101

I just got a Ruger SP101 2" barrel and I am looking for IWB holster reccomendations.

Right now I am leaning towards the Crossbreed Supertuck. How is the weapon retention with this holster? This is my main concern beacause I will be carrying this gun while hiking and canoeing and I dont want to lose my weapon if I take an unexpected tumble or unscheduled swim!

The other one I like is the Bianchi Pistol Pocket. I like the thumb break on it. Anyone ever use that one?

Any others I should look at out there?

Thank you,

Scott.

You might look at High Noon. I have a Split Decision tuckable, which can be used as tuckable or as regular IWB, but might be light weight for what you want. I'm not sure they have an IWB with thumb break.

I like all leather.
Though I EDC semi-auto now in same model holster, my SP101 is very happy and comfy in David Bullard's "Dual Carry".

I also have a Sp101 and carry mine in a Supertuck. Very comfortable combination!

For the situations you describe, I think the Bianchi Pistol Pocket would be a good choice.

Actually, for wear in the woods, or in canoes, I like an OWB Holster with a thumb break. Concealability is not so much a factor for me in the woods.

I used a Pistol Pocket about twenty years ago for an Beretta 92 and concealed carry. It worked OK and I had no major complaints. One tip: glue male and female Velcro to the Belt Loop. This will help you to get a good "fit" between the Holster and the Belt as the Loops are 1 3/4" wide and most Belts are 1 1/2" wide.

How is retention with your supertuck? Does it hold your SP101 securely?

Simply Rugged makes a very nice pancake style holster for the SP101 with optional in/out straps.
