New Holster too tight!
I bought a new pancake holster for my SIG P229. It's a nice EP Saddlery holster. Only problem is. I CAN'T get the gun out!!! Any ideas on how to loosen this thing up?

same thing happened with mine when i got it. you can either wrap the gun in wax paper or a plastic shopping bag (like from wal mart or something). keep the gun in it's holster over night and see how it feels in the morning. if it's still too tight, you can use 2 plastic bags...but I'd start with 1 first. good luck!

My first Versa Max 2 was that tight. Inserted the 1911 and thought I'd never get it out. I put the holster on the belt and pulled and twisted and it broke loose.
Then I read the instructions Milt Sparks Holsters sent along, and began doing presentations of the unloaded weapon. 100 presentations later, it was drawing just fine. The plastic bag trick ("blocking") was the next technique on their list. I've only had to do it on one pocket holster. Just be careful not to overdo this, as it cannot be reversed. Leave it only for a short time (a fraction of an hour) and increase the time as nec, to get the desired results. You may or may not need to go with thicker or multiple layers of bags (Sparks has us use the 4 mil zip loc bag the holster comes in).

Use some neutral Kiwi wax inside and just draw, draw, draw...and draw.

Put you gun in the plastic bag the holster came in and shove it in the holster for a couple days. Yeah yeah, I've done it a dozen times and it works just fine.

The last Brommeland Def-Con I got I was going to check it, and pushed my Kimber Compact down in the holster (it took some effort.) As soon as I did it I thought " What a dumb thing to do." My wife and I together could not get it out. I had to leave it in the holster overnight and then it took a lot of effort to get the gun out. It was the plastic bag treatment then. I think I learned my lesson, but I am a slow learner sometimes. Regards, Jerry |
