I don't mean to hijack, but I am so excited to see that someone else will actually admit to owning a firestar! I feel like we are related, lol.
I have a .40 and a .45 and love them both. They aren't flashy, but do what they are supposed to do, every time! Good luck on your search, and if I come across one, I will let you know. |

That makes 3 of us now. The difference is, I don't own one. But I held one at a recent gun show and I really like the feel of the pistol. A little heavy for it's size, but I think that's what makes it feel good. Perfect balance, I think.
I'm hoping to get one soon! ![]()

I had one years ago, and carried in an Uncle Mike's. There just isn't much for them. It was my first really small pistol. It functioned well, and shot straight. It did not have the best trigger pull, however. I traded it in for a Model 60 snubbie. I'm going to guess it was 12 to 14 years ago.
I also once had a Star PD 45ACP. There are a few good ones for that yet. Search for Star m40 and m43. Externally they are the same... You're welcome
I'm a lefty that carries some odd stuff. An MK-40 Kahr, a P7M8, a 610 N frame, a K frame snub, and they will make holsters and magazine/ moon clip/ speedloader pouches exactly as you specify. You can't just walk into your local gun shop and get a left handed P7M8 IWB and matching right-side mag pouch, trust me.
Get all the spare parts and magazines you can, they're getting hard to find. |

M40 Firestar
Bianchi used to make an excellent holster for the M40. I was excited to see the post from good2go with the Don Hume and Bianchi links. I have an older Bianchi belt loop model (model 19/19A I think) that works fairly well, although the weight of the M40 tends to pull a bit. I haven't seen or heard of any Kydex holsters that work for the M40, although that doesn't mean there aren't any... Of course, a custom rig can always be had for a cost. If anyone knows of an off the shelf solution for an Inside The Waistband (IWB), a Kydex paddle system, or a decent shoulder rig, please post! Are all firestar holsters created equal? In other words, will a rig for an M40 work for the M45? Or the 9mm model?
Both my wife and I have an M40, and these are outstanding compact pistols. I have never had a FTF or FTE with commercial ammunition, and my personal belief is that this fine pistol might be a little on the heavy side for CCW, but I would never feel undergunned with this in my holster. Accurate, reliable, and comfortable to fire, what is not to like? The Star Firestar M40 is a fine pistol. |
