I usually carry my BUG in an ankle holster, which becomes my primary while driving.

I carry a 1911 in a VersaMax-II. I have driven over 600 miles at a time while wearing it and never felt the need to remove the weapon!

In my vehicle, I have a holster affixed between the console and front passenger seat.
In someone else's vehicle, I wear a shoulder holster. My normal carry of either around the waist, pocket, or SmartCarry is difficult to reach while strapped in the seatbelt. If I want quick access (and I do), I go with one of the two options above. |

That was my main concern. I usually have it by the driver seat somewhere. As long as it is out of plain sight, it is legal (i.e. covered with a shirt or piece of paper).
I like the ankle holster and the shoulder holster ideas... ![]() |

Usually just leave it in my IWB holster, but on occasion I will put it in the center console.

Quick access will be critical if one is ambushed, such as pulling into or out of a garage. I would have extreme difficulty drawing quickly from some on-body locations while strapped in. I hope you can find a way that works for you. |
