Make your own gun holster... maybe?

I was just curious if anyone has ever tried to make their own gun holster? I've always been good with leather and fabrication so i was just curious if anyone has attempted making OWB leather paddle holster or something along those lines? Or used Kydex or somethign like that to produce one. I've heard of people using Kydex to make knife sheaths and said it's not too bad. But just looking for some input.

If anyone has any info or links to good websites that show a "How to..." That would be great. I've been looking online with no luck.

Thanks,
Chris

Buy this book. It will give you all of the basics. It's always for sale on Ebay. for around $10.00 & Shipping.
The holster patterns and styles are somewhat outdated but, it shows you how to design and fit a holster for any gun. Plus it gives you all of the most basic leather working, sewing, & molding information.

Made a pocket holster for my P3AT using a pattern/plan fron KTOG, and like it better than any of the commercially made holsters I have bought.

The only problem I have had is finding materials that I like.

I wouldn't have the time, patience, or interest to try making a holster for any of my weapons...I'm sure it would be a lousy investment/return of my time.
I'm used to a quality piece of boned leather for my Kimbers and Glocks.
But I do wish you the best...every experienced holster maker had to make his/her FIRST one.

I encourage you to experiment but not necessarily on yourself or another person or untested prototypes. There is just too much liability at stake for an untested product.

Find what you think is the best and then build a better mouse trap based on that.

Thumbs up I Checked Out Your Gallery

You are doing some really nice leather holsters and knife sheaths. Super nice work and extremely professional. Very well thought out and NEAT work.

Folks really should visit your gallery and take a look.

Yep..
Quicky IWB tuckable

Pocket Carry?

another couple for the pocket

I have done a couple of IWB versions for 1911, HK, kahr and Glock models, but no pics. I have a long way to go to even come close to the masters out there, but these are my home jobs. I have a couple of OWB snap designs that folks are trying for me at the local shops, but nothing to post yet.
