I doubt that most non gun people even know what a gunbelt is. I wear my thick gun belt even when I'm not carrying and no one has ever said anything about it. Not that noticeable that it's thick.

For shorts and tucked in shirt in the summertime, you might want to consider a Wilderness Tactical belt.

I don't own one but a lot of people do.

I agree. It is my opinion that we worry too much about gun belts and ignore less than the best concealment in the clothes we wear, and the way we move.

I know folks who wear 1.5" belts as their normal dress. While they are not gun belts few people will know what a gun belt is.

Jerry

I do! I do! Wilderness belts are awesome! You can get them in different colors and they have one with a double ring buckle that doesn't look tactical. Plus they ship fast, are reasonably priced, and hold up well! And if you manage to actually wear one out, just send them the buckle and they'll put a new belt on it for a reduced price!

For the past few years, I have sorta stopped wearing belts since I usually opt for un-tucked T’s or Hawaiian style shirts. Still, there are those times, and like everything else, I demand quality. The nicer belts cost a lot and those that taper around the waist, or taper in the front are often the highest. The instructor belts are cool looking too!

Now, I personally believe that quite a few people actually do look at belts; especially women, cops and of course, other conceal-carry folks.
Regards,

A good belt is as important as a good holster, Beltman, Wilderness, Comptac, TT leather are a few of the good ones. I know ididn't mention some but there as many good belt manfacturers.

Gun belts can look the part, or they can be designed to look much like a "standard" belt. Depends on the design.

I've had a few belts. All of them have been 1.5" in width, double thickness, "standard" (not "gun") buckles. All have been firm enough to carry a heavy gun reasonably well. My current couple of belts are from BeltMan. They are double bull hide, 1.5", tapered. They are comfortable and look much like any other belt.

I just got one of these today.
5.11 Tactical Leather Casual Belt 1.5 inch Detail Stitch
Looks ok, and it is comfortable. I will have to see how it holds up

Not to jack the thread,.. But does everyone use 1.5 inch belts??? I've been using a regular Levis 1.25 belt for about four years now, and although it is sagging and I'm in need of a new one (been looking for a better quaility) why does everyone use a 1.5 belt??

A 1.5" belt is heavier and better able to carry a heavy gun without sagging or bending.

However, I wear 1.25" most of the time. I do not wear a steel 5" 1911, but do wear a 4" 1911 light weight. I have had no problem with the holster sagging.

It is my opinion that one only needs a 1.5" belt if he is carrying a heavy gun. Otherwise, I have found 1.25" gunbelt to be perfectly adequate, and it fits all my pants.

Jerry
