It takes off material around the grip area. The slide area still has material around it.

I've got the un-combat cut version. I prefer the additional comfort and additonal coverage of the gun. I can't see the combat cut being that much of a tactical advatage. Even if the leather is cut away, you likely have a cotton shirt or skin. For me the leather provides a better sliding surface for draw.

With my love handles I need the extra material. Safety and slide release can make things a little raw after a day of packin.

I have one with and one without the combat cut. They are for different guns, but I really cant tell the difference in comfort. More of the gun is touching my skin, with the combat cut, but it fits the same.
