I just purchased a Springfield Micro compact in .45 and plan to mainly carry in a crossbreed supertuck.

I've read that some people pocket carry 3" 1911's and I'm planning on buying a Desantis Superfly pocket holster to have that option.

My question is: is it safe to carry a 1911C&L in a pocket holster like the Superfly?

I would think that it would be fine that way. The 1911 is a super safe design.

How big is that Micro Compact? About the size of the Colt Defender?

Thanks for the info.

I guess my worry is will the soft material of the holster be enough to prevent the trigger from being pressed.

The Micro has an officers frame with a 3 inch barrel so I think it's the same or maybe even a quarter inch shorter than the Defender

Agreed.

The 1911 by design is extremely safe and monkey paw resistant, though not proof.
To make a modern one fire in ones pocket one would have to actually try with purpose to do so.

I wouldn't, you'll find that the hammer and extended grip safety get hung up in the pocket when you try to pull it out quickly. Best 1911 for pocket carry is the Para C-6 which has both a bobbed hammer and grip safety.

I don't see how it'd be any less safe than carrying a Colt Mustang in a pocket holster. The only thing I'd question is, can you carry something that large in your pocket? Even the 3" 1911s are pretty large when it comes to pocket carry.

Like any other pocket gun, nothing else should be in there with it: No change, keys, etc. that might interfere with safe carry.

I have a 3" RIA 1911 45 and the weight alone would prevent me from pocket carry

I agree. Pretty heavy to pocket carry for very long, particularly if you are going to be doing much walking, etc. Safety won't be the issue if you use a holster.

Safety is not an issue as has already been stated, but comfort would be. You'd have to have some mighty loose fitting clothes to make that work. That platform and that holster are going to make a sizeable lump in a front pocket. OMO
Safe? Definitely!

My KelTec or snubbie is about all I could get away with...
