IWB mag holders: Double and Single Stack mags
I have recently been alternating between a Sig P226/40 and a P220 for daily carry, and I have been surprised at the difference in comfort between the two. They both fit in the exact same horse hide VM-2, but when loaded the P220 weighs ~4.5 oz less. More importantly, the P220 has a much narrower grip with no decocker hump.
I am starting to consider getting an IWB double mag holder for the P220 and making it my EDC, but I want to try a good IWB single mag holder for the P226 first. With the P226, I have found the spare mag to be even harder to conceal than the pistol itself is. Has anyone found a good IWB mag holder that will work with a double stack 40 cal mag? The 226/229 platform has worked very well for me, and I like having 13 rounds available without a mag change. |

I use a Milt Sparks IPD.
My only complaint is that the magazines face opposite of each other. I could remedy that by wearing two IPS Mag Carriers, but the IPD works for me. I find double-stack magazines to not be as comfortable to carry as the single stack ones, and impossible with a Glock, as they are too fat. Off Duty I carry a Hi Power, and don't find it to be too burdensome. Your Sig should feel about the same. Another solution is a Safariland horizontal "Undercover" Single Mag Carrier. It's not IWB but horizontal on the belt. It tends to camoflauge the spare magazine fairly well in casual environments, but is not all that concealable. Biker

I carry spare mags in my pocket. I can't find a comfortable position IWB. Glaco makes a holster where the mag is at the frontof the holster, there is thread here and so far it hasn't been well liked... I will continue to pocket carry mags and I also avoid double stacks, too thick!
