Sparks summer special for SP101?

Does anyone here carry a 2 1/2" Ruger Sp101 in a sparks summer special IWB rig,if so how do you like it? Is it a comfortable and stable holster?

I do, and almost never use it. As with other snubbies, and other IWB rigs, I find such a combo not as stable as a longer-barreled weapon in an IWB rig. I generally carry SP101s in Sparks PMK rigs, and yes, that does mean more than one SP101 at a time; from 2002 to 2007, I often toted multiple SP101s.

I have extensively used a G. Wm. Davis Security, which is almost identical to a Sparks Summer Special II, to carry a 1911, from the mid-1980's up to 2002. (And, may again in the future!) I used a Sparks Summer Special II to tote a Kahr K9 for a couple of years, and it worked well. I have a Sparks Summer Special II for a 5.5" SAA, which is comfortable and works very well.

My opinion of a snubby in a typical IWB rig? Too much bulk for too little depth. This is just my opinion. I think that an VM2 might be better for a snubby, as those leather "wings" spread the bulk of the belt loops over a wide area, and that width will also stabilize things better. This is based on speculation, and my experience with a VM2 for the P229, my presently most-carried weapon.

Just to be clear, the SS2 holds an SP101 just fine; it is the whole rig plus gun that is less comfortable and less stable. Like a keel on a sailboat, I think more barrel length helps stability. This IS with a double-thickness gunbelt. And, as with boats, if you can't have a deep keel, extra width adds stability. If ordering an IWB rig from Milt Sparks, for a snubby, I would go with a VM2.
