Valhalla Shooting Club or Thunder Ranch

Has anyone heard of or dealt with the Valhalla Shooting Club? I'm turning 40 in a couple of months and my wife wants to give me a really cool birthday present. So I am trying to figure out what I want to do. The Valhalla Shooting Club looks like a great place but maybe I would be better served going to Thunder Ranch or somewhere like that for some weapons training. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

'Valhalla Shooting Club' sounds like where you hope to go when you die. Are you sure you can trust this woman????

I wouldn't mind attending "summer camp" at either location.

Rob Pincus, of Vahalla, is actually a member here, although I am sure that class schedules and other business aspects keeps him off the site regularly.

No actual experience of either but based on what I have seen on Personal Defense TV shows Rob Pincus is a very fine instructor and they have a modern facility.

I know these things cost a few dollars but why not vow to do both and just choose one for your 40th, rather than eliminate one entirely. I'm sure you will learn a lot at both establishments.

I'd like to be able to go to either of these to be honest. Vallhalla would be nice, as it is in colorado and I'm always up for an excuse to make a drive through the mountains! Just expensive, and I'll have to save that trip for the future.

IMHO Valhalla is nice and modern , but Clint like the late Jeff Cooper will only be with us so long. Personaly i would not pass up the chance to school under courses he personaly sets the standards for were it me . After all no one says it has to be your last school lol .

I don't know the people who run Valhala. They may be very good.

I DO know that Col Cooper took his own grandaughter to train at Thunder Ranch with Clint Smith (during the dark days when the Col wasn't welcome at the "new" Gunsite.)

Can you think of a better recomendation for ANYBODY?

I took the Thunder Ranch Level II Handgun Low Light Level - it's about as good as it gets. But, that was when TR was in Texas.

I don't have any personal experience with either but when researching Valhalla the only price i found was a membership fee with was some ungodly number like 20,000( don't know how long the membership is) but they give you a custom 1911 and IWB carry rig.

One Of My Short Term Goals...

is to attend one of these nationally known schools...soon!

GunSite...Thunder Ranch...Vahalla, etc.

From what I have read, any of these places would be a great experience and well worth the $$$.

It's gonna' happen...
