DDGator, we were a lot closer than that in some of our last drills at CRG1 last Monday. Unfortunately, I was wiped out by the heat and humidity at that point so I didn't take any pictures of that drill.

Q-Ball, Gabe told us that he spends a lot of time training in WA, so you might check out his schedule. The classes may not be too terribly far away from you after all.

Gabe is a superb instructor and the classes are great. Very practical street survival stuff, very different than most/all other instructors.

Thanks LenS. I'm already scheduled for a 3 day Portland class with SouthNarc in Sept. and so my funds for any more training this year is zilch. When I grow up and get a job that pays more then my next class will probably be with Gabe.

Q-ball, you'll be happy to know that Gabe had high accolades for SouthNarc and Tom Givens as trainers. Gabe mentioned both of them in our classes.

You do need to be careful about what classes you take, as I found myself WAY OVER MY HEAD in CRG1! We don't have sandpits and mountains here to go practice tactical shooting in, only gun clubs with very restrictive rules (shoot from bench only, no drawing from holster, no shooting while moving, etc.). Therefore, I had no experience with this type of shooting and the multi-function drills overwhelmed my experience. I am now determined to try the drills (I bought the DVD) with a blue gun, but still won't have anywhere to practice this stuff with live rounds!

I took a class with SouthNarc last year in CA. and I was not disappointed, that's why I'm taking another one this year in Portland.
You should check out a clip from here, pretty slick.

Two friends and I are taking a private class in October...a little CRG1 and some Interactive airsoft. Ive been debating shelling out another $80 for the DVD...Ive wanted to see a few more reviews on whats actually in it...before I drop the cashola.

From what Ive been seeing the DVD is very good.

AZG23, from what Gabe told us, the DVDs are not out yet. Paladin had not sent Gabe his initial shipment yet, as of our class dates (7/15-18). Then Gabe was headed for HI to do some training and some vacation, so he's probably just about back by now or maybe next week.

AZG23,

We took “Introduction to Gun Fighting” plus 2 day “Close Range Gunfighting” this year. Next year he's already scheduled back in Tyngsboro, MA (CQG2 & Force on Force). See the following URL for more details
http://www.neshooters.com/2006-schedule.html

From talking with Gabe after our course, I decided to buy the DVD. So I'm awaiting arrival of same. Yup it's on the websites, but I still don't think they are shipping any yet.

To answer the other part of your question, I used a S&W 1911, as did most of the class.
