You might want to get an airsoft gun that duplicates your carry gun; I have a very accurate copy of one of the Wilson 1911s. Then, all you need is some space. Since we are talking about close range, the accuracy of these guns is excellent. In addition, you can do force on force drills with a buddy. Being attacked by the target is a real eye-opener.

Just a word of warning about airsoft. They look like the real thing (except for the red tip). Don't use it where others might see you; they might just call 911.

grnzbra, it's on my list of "to buy" items. A good 1911 airsoft cost a lot of $$ and I've been spending it lately on ammo/accessories for the real McCoy (and other guns).

Yes, a buddy of mine on our PD has drawn down on two Darwin candidates that had airsoft in hand (of course both had painted the orange tip black) when responding to "kid with a gun" in one case and a DV incident where the girl threatened to kill her Mother and Sister with the airsoft gun (none of them knew it wasn't real) then left her house and walked up to the square with the gun in her belt (gangsta style).

Thumbs up

Took the CRG1 class with my son this weekend in Elko Nevada. Came away better than I was, nowhere near where I want to be. Elder son bought the DVD after the 1st days class and we watched it in the motel that night. It is well worth the money! It also expands on the class with additional stuff. These tecniques are eye opening, take the class if you can and get the DVD class or not. We are allready planning to take " Extreme Close Range Gunfighting II" force on force, real world,in your face,360*training. [hope this old man is up to it]

The solution--although not a real cheap one--is a Crimson Trace laser. As I explained in another thread, you can learn to activate the beam at will by pressing--or not--the button on the grip of the gun. This means that you can draw, and push the button as you pull the trigger (dry firing), and see if you really killed that dang lamp (which, of course, is in a safe direction). (Obviously, the usual cautions about dry firing need to be constantly remembered: this is exactly how some very expert shooters have "killed" a perfectly good refrigerator, light switch, etc. )

I don't know if the Crimson Trace grips would show this, but with a Beam Hit laser (one pulse when the hammer falls) you can tell not only if you hit the target, but also if you are doing something to disturb the aim. If you get it right and you don't jerk the trigger (or whatever else can be done wrong in firing the gun) you will get a spot on the target (or the wall behind it if you miss). If you don't do it right, you will get a line.

No review of the material yet?

I just bought the DVD so I'll get back to this post when I've reviewed it. Was hoping someone would have watched it by now.

At first I was a little dissapointed in the DVD...as its what I normally do....

However, after taking the class...and getting MORE information and instruction...there is alot more there than you can see just watching it. Gabe says it is supposed to be a training aid to the classes....and I have to agree...

If you are like I ma and my buddies we train pretty hard out in the desert, basically everything in the DVD and then some. So it was a natural training tool. Now.if all you have ever shot at are tin cans or paper on a square range...this may be more than you are used to....as some have said.

Alot of people think they are a great shot...and that may be true...when nothing moves, and no one is coming at you...

Get some training....it WILL improve you.
