Front Sight Training Institute?????

Anybody hear of these folks? What is the good, bad, and the ugly?

They are offering a free handgun and a bunch of other stuff ($1199.00) when you sign up.

I'd do a bunch of reading before I thought of giving them money.

I would look hard around where you live. Probably a lot of good training without going that far. But if money is no object..... Road trip.

I agree with Supertac....read up, maybe go to the Las Vegas newspapers archive and read up on Front Sight and its founder.....

The founder is a serious Scientologist, and he uses their business practices and techniques. If you don't have any problem with that, the training is probably good.

I was about to comment further, but my remarks may be considered biased. About 30 minutes ago I won a FrontSight training certificate in another forum.

Oh well, I'll go ahead anyway. I find the owner's promotional approach a little off-putting. That being said, there have been long threads on many forums with lots of anecdotal high praise for their training. Although the Las Vegas area is geographically distant for a lot of people, the airlines and travel agencies often offer very inexpensive travel and sometime lodging as well.

Purchased some certificates for $100 each and went with my sons last fall. We all had a great time. We took the 4 day defensive handgun course. Learned a lot. Part of the course was a night shoot, going through a shoot house, and a one on one steel target competition.

The founder's mustache creeps me out.

That and his hard sell tactics. All secretive and stuff. Please.
