Handgun Training in PA?

Has anyone here ever heard of these outfits or attended any of their classes? They are located in Mckeen and Boalsburg PA. Also are there any other places in PA to get handgun and/or ccw training?

Thanks Kevin

Kevin,

I don't know those places myself but I am involved in NRA training re Basic Pistol and Personal Protection. Now obviously the former is not something you would need, maybe too not even the latter but - we do put a lot into the PP course and so it is IMO of considerable value to even folks who are shooters but new to, or considering carry.

This stuff is not of course ''tactical'' or overtly ''combat'' - it is at a more basic level, to encourage safety and profiency.

Not maybe impossibly far from you is where we do this - Hollidaysburg, Blair County. We run the next Basic Pistol in February and sometime later in the year will probably be offering another PP course.

BTW - could be if you are interested and can travel - come along next year when we start the IDPA again at Hollidaysburg.

Kevin,

I can't say anything about the first school you listed but I know Randy Smith of the second post pretty well. Randy is mainly involved in NRA Basic Pistol and Personal Protection classes. His other courses run once or twice a year.

As Chris mentioned earlier Hollidaysburg also offers the same types of courses. We also bring in other trainers throughout the year. In the past we have hosted Tactical Response, Jeff Gonzales and a few others.

I am working on the 2006 schedule right now.

Contact me if you would like some more information about what we are planning.

Thanks!
Corey

Chris and Corey, thanks for the info, any info you can provide would be appreciated. What I'm looking for is to futher my CCW training and tactics. Really can't spend the money right now for the big training places like frontsite.

Kid - you are welcome.

Well - should you decide to come to the Hollidaysburg range any time - just throw a PM to one of us. As I said, we will I expect plan a personal Protection course later into 2006 and that could well be useful for you - as well of course as leaving you holding a certificate for your troubles.

Always good IMO to be able to show that, even if you haven't done super-dooper tac' training, you have at least got proof of some good training in essentials.

I've been coming over to PA from Upstate NY for Training for a couple of years now.

John Farnam of DTI gets into Pittsburgh every year around Memorial Day for some classes - there's a very active DTI group in the area, complete with their own email list.

Harrisburg is the home of the National Tactical Invitationals, and also serves as the East Coast HQ for Insights Training Academy, which is based in WA.
