So, If any of you were just starting out in the handgun world (like myself) and had the right handed/left eyed issue, would you choose to learn to fire a handgun left handed? Or is this just one of those, "there is no wrong answer" questions.

I'm seriously considering learning to shoot with my left hand. I do not feel awkward handling the gun with my left hand and the motion to aim feels a bit smoother and more natural with the pistol in my left hand...

Time will tell, I suppose.

Went to the range this afternoon. Shot 150 rounds Lefty. Felt pretty good took some time to concentrate on my grip and trigger pull... Got more consistent and accurate by the end of the session. Might be on to something here, for beginners, that is...

Depends on what you are training for. Is it to shoot nice tight groups on paper or to defend yourself with a pistol? If it is the latter just focus on the threat and pull the trigger. In my professional opinion it is a non issue for combative pistol.- George

I had an issue with shooting slightly low and way left. The low is because I jerk the trigger to break passed the sear (apparently my fingers are ridiculously sensitive despite beating them up in martial arts classes for several years now) and the left was because when I keep my non-dominant (left) eye open as I look over the sights, I parallax really bad and the whole image shifts about 4-6 inches to the left in my field of vision at seven yards.

Just trying to point out that cross dominance or over-dominance can effect things enough to seriously hamper defensive shooting if you extend this trend southward with stress and adrenaline. Your single best bet is to identify with certainty what is going on with a qualified instructor and then work on any issues from there. It's done absolute wonders for me.
