I live in a very rural area and have the good fortune to belong to an invitation only gun club. The range berm is 125 yards and the shotgun backstops for practice/patterning are at 30 yards. There are two electronic clay launchers available to members. The honor system applies. You can shoot anything you're big enough to pack any way you can manage to shoot it. We,ve had everything from .50 caliber down to .22 CB. I'm retired and am there with my lab twice a day. The van has, as I write this, an XM15 Varmint Special, a H&R single shot 12 ga., a couple of hundred targets and that many rounds in everything from .22 to .223 to 10MM to 12 ga (the 10MM is on my hip). Spotting scope, binoculars, laser range finder, gun vise, ad infinitum. The only reason I went into this kind of detail is this.....I can, from a crossdraw, put the first shot from the 10mm Witness Hunter in the face on an IPSC target at 40 yards. The rest of the fifteen rounds will be in the torso. How much do I shoot a day? Probably a couple rounds a day on average. My question is why, except for the aggravation value, do you care?

It must be fun to call out “arm chair warrior” over the web to people you don’t know… let me sum it up by making this statement…”Son I could shoot rings around your best shot” “ and do it with a 1.5 inch barrel” I hand cast, hand load and shoot over 400 rounds a week… But wait, you wouldn’t believe that any ways… Never mind… handgun ??? I aint never seen one of them…Is that like a port-e-bull type gun ??? my god dem things kill people....

I don't really approve of the arm chair warrior title, but then again, I'm relatively young and all that jazz, and carry a very tacti-cool weapon. I agree that there are those who need need a lot more training, but there are a fair number of members here who don't fall into that category at all.

I shoot handguns at least twice a week & most weeks three times. Each session is about 100 rounds.

I am not limited by range restrictions....since I own the range. So my practice has been more geared to shooting & moving, rather than just banging away at paper.

As the availability of ammo went down, I cut down on the number of rounds I shoot. I cut back mostly on rifle shooting, my handgun shooting has only been a little bit reduced.

I just finished practice with a shotgun & handgun..........(sorry to rub it in, but since I have the range right outside, it's easy to find time to do it........& it's a good excuse not to get my other chores done....)

Attaboys to the last few posts. Like I said, what's the purpose? Some's better, some's not so good. We all do what we can. The purpose of this website is support. Not bashing fellow members.

I shoot between 150 to 600 rounds per week depending on the weather and my wife's plans. I shoot at least once per week plus compete at least twice a month. Last year (before I retired) I shot over 20000 rounds. Now that I am retired, time is at a premium. When you are the only other person in the house, you wife focuses more on you!!!!! Based on current range time, I should be up to 25000 rounds this. The older I get, the more practice I need and I still can't improve. I am lucky to maintain my skills. Aging SUCKS!

I shoot as much as I can, probably 200 rounds per month. I've taken threat -focused training from a fellow member and practice what he taught me. I am proficient enough with my weapons to protect my family and myself, I don't want to be a bad, puffed up, testosterone oozing, buffoon with a gun. I'm just your average Joe who carries a handgun, as I assume most on this site are. Unobtrusive until the chips are down.

I shoot possibly 100 rounds a month...simply because I can't FIND any to shoot.

This month will be banner.... Probably 250 rounds total between Semi auto gun, revolver and semi auto rifle when we hit the last of the five Saturdays. Two IDPA Matches, one ICORE Match, one Rifle drills night, one SFDCC Match (OK, this one may increase round count). There will be an IDPA classifier on the 5th Saturday but I am not planning on shooting it, just score it. And speaking of Classifier, Ex it is about time you get to a Classifier again. You had enough rest!

Just like Sixto and Ex, I am caring more about proper placement, smooth & fast drawing & proper cover that putting lead downrange.

PS to Ex: Roger is the truly devious Stage Designer. People still curse his name remembering impossible blind stages at state matches in Florida. Then again none of us like vanilla Courses of Fire, you included! <evil laugh>

For the past 8 months I've shot at least 200 rounds per week, If time and funds pemitted I shoot more. I have 4 guns that I can use for carry and rotate shooting between them.
Standard rectangular range stuff so far but the rate of improvement is encouraging. I've always shot revolvers better than semi-auto's but I am getting much better and have much more confidence carrying my Kimber than I did a couple months ago.
I look at it this way my best shot in a real defense situation is likely to be not as good as my worst shot in practice. I set a personal standard for myself, if I can't shoot consistant 3 inch groups I don't feel comfortable carrying that particular gun. I've finally reached that point with the Kimber, the three revolvers I've gotten to 2 inch groups.
I do almost all of my shooting at 21 feet, sometimes less, assuming that in a defensive situation that would most likely be close to the distance I'd need to be.
